Incorrect: Muslim women enjoy full financial independence from their husbands, fathers, or any other male relatives. They have full control over their money, the right to sell and buy properties, own a business, and take legal actions concerning their own possessions.

i am an mulsom woman , i can drive a car , i can discuss things with my father and my husband

here is the answer , women have no reponsibility as men , the man needs money to takeair of his family , to bring them food and clothes , to offer them a safe life , so, when the man have the double inhert of the woman this is because he will be able to make buisness with this money , and with the prophit he can offer comfprtable life to the woman

forst of all , the heaven os undert the mother`s feet , this meen that the person cannot enter the heven if he was not obbidient to his mother
second , there is a whole part in the quarn named with a name of a woman , wich is jesus mother (( we call her miriam in arabic )) , and this means that woman is respected
third , our prophit Mohammed (( peace be upon him )) said that if a father had three girls , and he educated them and learnt them well he go to heaven
and hey , who said the women cvannot work or educate ???? you have to know that our prophit Mohamed (( pbuh))was alife , the women used to work , and they still work , our prophits wife opened an islamic school and she worked as a teacher , the first doctor in islam was a woman !!!!

This question was directed at women who actually PRACTICE islam... not those who know nothing about ISLAM. So those who answered in the most ignorant of ways... GO READ A REAL BOOK... not just the fake ones with lots of pictures inside and very little information. I am a Muslim women and half of what was said by those answering is stupid crap. Islam gives women more rights than most other religions did when they were first created. Culture intervened, however, creating the common stereotype that Muslim women are abused and oppressed. Wow... Oppressed.. thats been the buzz word since the US invaded Afghanistan and got rid of the Taliban... Extremism has nothing to do with Islam. I wear the Hijab... even though my parents didnt want me to. I am equal to my husband. And I will be among the first to enter heaven simply because i AM a woman. God tells Muslims that heaven is at the feet of your Mothers. The only affects that Islam has on me is when I get hounded in my own country (Australia) by racist people. Other than that I love this religion and I am proud to be a part of it. To everyone else. Get your facts right. Peace and Love

I have heard so many things one way or other on this subject. I do not believe in judgeing until I have the facts and I know so little about Islam. What I do know is this

Women are treated very poorly in these predominantly Islamic countries by men who profess to be "Muslim" In our predominantly Christian country, these things would never be tolerated.

I have so far read only a few pages of the Quran and so far I find nothing objectionable. However, I am only in Ch 2 at about verse 60. I have recently learned that the Quran was written in the 7'th century and this also bothers me that a whole group of people would base their whole lives on a book that was not written that long ago compared to the bible, which has much more aged roots. I mean, do you really think that after Allah/God created these people, he let them wander the Earth aimlessly without any direction for centuries before speacking to Mohammed though his messenger Gabriel?

I don't know if the actions of these "Muslims" toward these women is in accordance with the Quran or not. But I have seen documentaries taken by reporters undercover while in hospitals in Arabic countries interviewing women who had acid splashed on them by their husbands, etc, etc.

2- Why Surah Nisaa allow men to BEAT women in certain cases? (please read the commentary by Ibn Katheer or Al Tabari before answering. They tell a wonderful story about a woman who has been beaten by her husband and compalined to Muhammed, but Muhammed did not do anything)

3- What does it mean when Muhammed says "Women have less mind and religion"?

4- What does it mean in a prophetical statement that seeing a woman, a horse, or a house are all signs of bad luck?

Women in Christianity were not allowed to enter the churches, they were blamed the root of all evils. Women in Hinduism were not allowed to remarry after the death of a husband and were forced to burn alive with her husbands body (custom of satti which is still practiced in some parts of India).
Women in Islam are treated very honorably, for example according to one statement the heaven lies under the feet of mother!! It means she has been given such an honor. Unless the modern marriage laws for which most western societies are suffering and giving rise to the bachelors, the Islam has best rules for the protection of a woman by marriage and she has complete right to get divorce and choose another partner.

Sounds pretty unequal to me. Sounds like men are a 'degree above' women.

4:98 Except the feeble among men, and the women, and the children, who are unable to devise a plan and are not shown a way.

This implies that women are feeble like children, again less than a man.

Don't try and imply that women are equal to men, just look at any Muslim country and you will see the subjugation. Of course, maybe you prefer to ignore facts and play pretend.

Doesn't that depend on the denomination?

There are a million denominations of Christianity now. Some of them women can't cut their hair or wear pants.(pentacostal) Some have to wear hairnets and home made pilgrim dresses. (amish) and some allow homosexual priests (anglican, some branches.)

I'm sure Islam is the same. Wahabists are much more conservative (those are the women who have to wear face masks and walk 3 steps behind their men) and I have known moderate American Muslims whose wives worked full-time but chose to wear scarves out of modesty. I can respect modesty and I feel bad that I was so immodest when I knew them. (I was 19 for goodness sake)

But anyway.... you can't tell me all Islamic branches are so liberal. :-)

The trueth is women are the possession of men in that society and as such come under direct control of what he wants.
A women who got out of there came and talked at our school.
It is all propaganda, women do what there husbands tell them to do. They can beat them, kill them and add more wives at will.
They practice female circumcison so they will have no sexual desire and concentrate on pleaseing their husbands sexually.
Older wives train younger ones in pleaseing their master.
Sucide is the number one cause of death in Iraq women.
If it is so great why are they dieing literally to get out.

They do female circumcison she said with no pain killers and it is excruiateing. Held down by 4 or more women her genitia is scraped off. Great she keeps her name. But the possessions she acquires are actually her husbands. She said if the women in this country knew what they went through they would hate Iraq men.

A woman in islam can work and doesn't need to spend her money on her house or her kids thats because in islam the man has to handle that responsibility that is his duty
