I admit, I have no idea what Jesus would say about homosexuality if he were here today. I can't imagine that he would be the mean-spirited person that I have heard here. If the Church is to ever get the message of Jesus to people, how can they hear it when the messenger is filled with venom and hate. I always thought that Christians were supposed to be kind and loving even when faced with things that are sinful. If you are called to act and voice your opinion or whatever about homosexuality and same sex marriage, are you supposed to follow through the same way with adulterers, coveters, liars, theives, etc? Or is it that you just cant get past the gay thing?

I am grateful to hear most of these comments. I am surprised when I hear people who claim to be Christian speaking as though they have no idea who Christ is. I am glad to see that Christ is alive and there are folk out there that arent just saying it as a way to justifiy their hatred for others and their lifestyles.

Oddball, I am neither GAY or homosexual. I am a woman, late forties who is VERY much heterosexual. I have two grown daughters also heterosexual and I am a grandmother of two little girls. I am a widow but dating a Christian man. Born into a Christian home with parents that still belong to the church of my youth and are quite active in it still. My first visit away from home with the exception of getting the all clear from the doctor (that is the way they did it back in the old days) was to church where I went every Sunday (at least) from then on. I just dont think that Christians are supposed to be full of condemnation no matter what your personal feelings are. That is not Christianity it's RELIGIOUSITY. They confuse the Man and his message with their own personal agenda. And Liberal, yes I am, and proud of it. To be Liberal means that you are broadminded and free from bigotry. I do beleive Christ will forgive me this "sin".

Many just can't get past the gay thing. They are more concerned with what two guys do in the privacy of their own homes then with what they themselves do.Jesus would not approve and would again say to modern followers, "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone".

I can understand your frustration with the gay bashing. There is of course several aspects to your question that are valid. In God's eyes, there is no big sin, little sin....to Him all are sin, and all deserve death. That being said...I agree with you in regard to adulterers, fornicators, liars, and the whole list. God hates them all. Not the person, but the act.
To us (humans) the question doesn't really lie in whether a person is gay by accident of birth, genetics, environment. What the reasons a person feels attracted to a person of the same sex is, is not the difficulty. We can use those as excuses, or explinations. Neither makes a difference, since God said that it was not allowed.
Now, does that make you a horrible person because of how you feel about men or women? No. It simply places you in the same catagory of people who, if they desire to follow God, are required to stop or change the things that He said were wrong. You are no different than the single guy or girl out there that has to keep from having sex before they are married. Or the married person who must remain faithful to their spouse.
It is a difficult thing to choose to do as God says and not as the world would tell us, that its okay just cause we feel like it. But you are not unique, nor considered less by God because you feel this way...only if you act upon it. Then you are sinning.

Jesus loves everyone no matter what they do, but he did tell us to obey Gods laws. So since Homosexuality is considered a sin we should avoid it. Now hating a homosexual for being homosexual is wrong, but disliking the act is what is proper. Im a sinner like any other person in this world and would not judge the homosexual for having those desires ect. Logically though I could not condone homosexuality....like I could not condone any other sin. So advocating same sex marriage would be condoneing homosexuality correct? Yet they are people and deserve to be treated as people. So...love the sinner, hate the sin and don't condone the act. I still feel that there should be some rights for gays to be treated as people, but sometimes there is a line.

God said you are to turn away from that kind of sin. When he created the world then he created Adam and Eve. That is he created man and woman to be together not man/man or woman/woman. He created a man and woman to united in the sanctity of marriage. He didn't create a person to be with the same gender. That is why you see christians today condemning people that are like that. Because that wasn't God's plan.

Christians are just people just like everyone else. Being baptized doesn't turn a valve in your guts that makes sin stop flowing through your veins. I feel that it's a jesture, a commitment to do the right thing for the rest of your life. There's no sense in making it sound more complicated than it really is. Not unless you just want something to gripe about.
As far as Homosexuality is concerned, it's dangerous. Besides, have you seen chicks lately??

In the Bible, Jesus was silent on the point of homosexuality. Paul had a great deal to say about it, as did the Old Testament, but Jesus is not directly quoted on the issue. If He were hung up about homosexuality, He doubtless would have been quoted saying negative things about it. But that didn't happen.

Christians think A LOT of things are a sin.
I used to have these friends who made a big deal about being Christian. To them, everything is a sin - as long as it's not them. They couldn't deal with me saying the word "hell." Nonetheless, they saw nothing wrong with it when the wife brought home this French movie that would have frankly offended a lot of people I know. The main character in the story, for example, had to "shave herself" to get in some pictures she would be paid to appear in. I think you get the drift. They were quite explicit about it.
I finally got tired of these people implying what an evil piece of garbage I am, and how good they are. I called them one day and told them to "go their own way."

He said "Love thy neighbor as thyself."
You are completely right. It isn't our place to judge a person or to be mean to them because of what we perceive to be their weaknesses or flaws, or even their sins. With reference to this, he said, "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone."
It doesn't matter what a person chooses in their life, whether their choices are good or bad. We are commanded to love them.
Now, we are also given a conscience to help us to know right from wrong. We can know for ourselves, for our own lives what is the right way to live. That in no way authorizes us to judge another person. Christ alone knows the agony that people go through when faced with their own sins. That qualifies him as the proper judge.
As for the rest of us, I've always felt that if we are guilty of self-righteous judgment of others we bear a greater sin than that which we have called a sin in others.
We must learn to love the sinner, while not condoning their actions, or as I've often heard it referred to "hate the sin, love the sinner."

Jesus hung out with lepers, prostitutes, liars, thieves, and atheists, he wanted everyone to live by example and to love everyone - regardless of their positions or sins. Homosexuality is considered a sin in the bible, so I'd hope Jesus would be just as accepting and loving as he was portrayed in the new testament.

Your ruse of acting as someone just trying to understand isn't working with me.
Your entire statement show your nothing more than a Godless Liberal attempting to ridicule and berate Christians for their beliefs. You Liberals keep trying this tactic with everything.
They and you are not GAY! They and you are HOMOSEXUALS. Quit using GAY to brainwash young people into believing this lifestye is HAPPY AND CARE FREE.
