The bible is not law. It's a collection of stories that people built a religion around and choose to follow. Not all people. I'm glad that it works for you, but can you really expect anyone to take you seriously when you say things like "Thats against the law, because the bible said so." or "I know its true because its in the bible" You can believe whats in the bible, people are free to believe in whatever they want, but you cant "prove" something because its in the bible. Thats just ridiculous.

Exactly. Some people don't realize there is a whole other world outside their own beliefs or even their own country where there are other beliefs and even no belief as a national view.Such as China or India.China has a national Atheistic view and India is predominately Hindu. Then there are the Buddhists of Nepal.

So, you have made a point that the Christian fundamentalists can't argue. They just choose to ignore the reality of the world around them and instead choose to live in their religion and Bible.Sometimes my fellow Christians can be very narrow minded.

Some people feel very strongly about their beliefs but I have never heard anyone say something was law because it was in the Bible. Some of our laws are built on the 10 commandments probably because when society was establishing guidelines to help people get along, they looked at the commandments and thought they were pretty good. Things that are against the law are against the law because lawmakers have agreed on them and society allows a select group to make rules for them.

As to when someone says they know it's true because it is in the Bible, that is based in part on faith and in some cases there is proof. There have been archaelogical finds that support some of the stories in the Bible.

I'm also going to assume you were making a point of your disbelief in the Bible by not capitalizing it but that would be breaking a grammer "rule". Even if you believe it to be a work of fiction, it is the name of a book and therefore, entitled to be capitalized.

The only things that can be proven by the Bible are moral and faith issues and facts about the people and actions of the Bible. The Bible does not presume to determine our modern day laws but rather to influence the mind and hearts of the people who legislate our laws and those of us who are supposed to follow them. We who believe the Bible to be the Word of God, take everything that is in it in faith, whether or not certain stories in there may or not be actually and historically correct. The whole point of the Biblical accounts is to teach mankind about God and what He has to say to us about life and the eternal nature of our souls. Unfortunately many people isolate certain passages or sentences without reading the whole chapter or cross referencing to get a complete picture, and in so doing, take many things in the Bible out of context and spout off about what they think it means; but in reality anything you read in the Bible should never be isolated out of context or it could give you a totally different meaning from what was intended by the authors.

The bible and every thing that has to do with religion is used as a weapon against the poor men who think that they really must say the truth. God is a man's weapon and it's weakness. The bible is made by men not by gods. In the bible are the premordial laws of men and it affects you spritualy too.

I think that you are being a little naive and probably don't have the background, education, or experience to understand the bible fully. Additionally, if you would like to find the answers and the truth about the bible, I would suggest you have this discussion with a knowledgeable person; ie. priest, pastor, professor of theology. They will be able to answer your questions far better than most of us on Yahoo Answers.

I think that you'll find that the vast majority of laws that you so blithley dismiss, have their foundations in the moral code of people adhering to scriptures. There are few, laws that you can quote, other than some of the more recent ones, that do not have a corolary to the bible.
Of course, since I'm assuming I'm talking to a wall, in regards to understanding...I'll leave it at that.

The bible was not meant for non-believers. The bible was made for Christians. I really don't see why believers "force" the book on non-believers or America for that matter.

Any non-believer can say, "What if I don't like Jesus? Get that book outta my face you putz!"

Well... you can't do anything about that besides pray for 'em. Or have fundraising bake sales that have bible scriptures baked in the crusting.

Well, that is a part of society and has to be accepted as such. The best you can do about it is say you have a different view and express it to them. But, we should all respect each other as individuals none the less. It is a part of life in this world and definitely a part of life in this great melting pot of America.
