From what I understand and it has been proven scientifically. There use to be either a layer of water or ice that surrounded the earth and produced more air pressure and held in more oxygen. This caused people / plants and animals to live longer and grow larger. The proof in this came when some scientists put a tomatoe plant into a concealed chamber and added what they guessed would have been the amount of pressure and the amount of oxygen. It relatively wasn;t much more oxygen, but everyone knows, toamtoe plants do not survive very long. Well, the plant they had was 14' tall / 10 years old and had baseball size toamtoes. It was a cherry tomato plant. Now, if you look at the "dinasours", you'll actually notice, that their nostrils are realtively tiny compared to the rest of their body. It was easier to breath in that type of condition. So, if you took a crockodile and it grew 10-12 times the size they do now, imagine what they would look like and how their bodies would even change. The reason people live less long, is because that atmosphere that once existed is gone. And in reality, when the flood happened, the safer barrier was removed from around the earth and we're now basically living in a junk yard. In space, there still exists a moisture band around the earth, but nothing like it was before. The water or ice shield came down as a part of the flood. Even today, people heal faster in the containers with more pressure and oxygen and I think even fottball teams have those chambers to help the atheletes heal quicker.

Some theologians discount the time quotes in the Bible. In other words, it is possible that 1000 years then isn't the same as 1000 years now. Remember, the Bible has been translated many times into and from many languages by many people some of whom may have been less credible than others. If you look at modern history you will see that 300 years ago people lived much shorter lives than we do now. So, there is a gap in the time line, so to speak.

In the old days people pretty much believed whatever they were told. Now, with newspapers and television and the Internet, we question some of those old stories and say, well, maybe Hiawatha didn't REALLY throw his grandmother up in the air till she landed on the moon, maybe that was a later addition to the story. So, maybe the thousand-year lifespans in some of the old stories are just a bit exaggerated, ya think?

There was no great flood. There is no evidence to support the claim that a flood covered the Earth.

A flood of such magnitude must have left consistent traces of evidence equally all over the world. Yet, this is not the case.

No animal, inculding the Human race has ever lived to 1000 years. If you honestly believe Humans used to age to 1000, you're insane. The oldest living thing in the world, to have ever lived as long is a 4000y.o cactus in the middle of the desert.

Now one lived over 120 years those days TRUST ME ... it's human nature to live approx from 60 to 100 years ... those who past 100 are very very fortunate & maybe lucky. About your question ... these days there are hundreds of reasons why our biological clock ticks faster ... the most popular of them all is ofcourse POLUTION (air, noise, sun raise, the ozone lair gettin thinner, the green house effect, acid rain) they all come from our daily disposals ... then it's the food(artificially enhacend) stuffed with chemicals to look bigger & juicyer but with no nutritive value at all. There are lots of biological reasons you can enumerate ... Try having a healthy life style & ur certaingly live longer!

YES, THEY CERTAINLY DID LIVE ALMOST 1000 YEARS!.
If any Christians are claiming different, you are not a Christian.

Probably lots of reasons.

Mostly because God put this limit on us because of our behavior.

The ability for it to happen is a very interesting thing all by itself.
Let's say that in order for it to be, the atmosphere must have reacted with our bodies (or any carbon based thing) differently. Hmmm, could this be WHY carbon dating is flawed?
I believe it just might be.

There was a layer of ice (or water) above the atmosphere, it keep the UV rays from the sun out, there was twice as much oxygen in the air and the air pressure was twice what it is now.

The canopy theory-water above the earth before the flood, blocked out UV rays and increased the o2 level and atmospheric pressure.- greenhouse effect.-theory

God cut the life line down, first to 120 years and then to 70 years.
