An interesting qustion. I'm assuming that you are saying that people who have religion, are doing it to have some sort of hope?
This would be true. Faith in God, and our lives lived in service to Him, make us participants in salvation. Thus we live our lives with hope. Hope for an end to our suffering, and to at long last live in peace with Him. It is hope that enables us to endure this life and its struggles and difficulties.
If your suggestion was to say that people turn to religion cause they don't have any hope...hope that they could get somewhere else...then the answer would be no. Its not.

Religion is a belief in something that someone haves. Religion will not get you to Heaven. Getting saved by the Grace of God does.

We are all eventually will die soon or later in our life.In the begining,
God is always good and God is created everything. Human
being is created by God. God want to care Adam and Eve,
supposely live in the garden Eden where no need to worry,anxiety,
fear,depression,greed,lust, betrayer,slander, and more evil desire.
God never want to create these evil desire or worry. However,
we all are born sinner as breaking the law of God by Adam and
Eve, eating the forbidden tree in the garden Eden.Adam and Eve
was separated by God because human like Adam and Eve
were disobedience and craving to break the forbidden command
which God definitly not allow to take the apple tree.A test how
much Adam and Eve love God!
Adam and Eve were want to gain the knownledge of
Good and Evil deceive By Serpent(Satan) who desires and
lure human to seperate from God because God is good in
the begining.
A awesome hope relationship back to God send his only son
Jesus Christ to store back our corrupt body to heaven by forgive
sins and disobedience.
John 3:16
16 "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son,
that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

Religion is pretty simple. By definition it means "demonstration of faith" everyone has some faith in something (someone) and the way they demonstrate it, is their religion. There are organised religions, whereas people demonstrate similar faith together. Religion itself is neither good nor bad, it depends solely on the person demonstrating it.

Religion is the embodiment of fear. It is derived from the fear that people will inevitably die, and be gone forever. Religious people rely on these false assurances because they are afraid.
