My 2 year old can say her abcs, as well as many nursery ryhmes. she can also count to 20 and count backwards from 10. she can dress herself, even truning things the right way out. and shes toilet trained she can use the toilet completely unaided. she can recognise numbers and letters by sight. she knows all her animals, even odd ones like artic fox and all there sounds. she can draw stick figures that are clearly recognisable with facial features. she can speak basic spanish. even tho none of the family are spanish, thank dora for that! She can remember the morning childrens tv programing (the order of the shows), which i cant! She even plays educational games on the computer and can use a mouse and can tell which buttons to click on to play. she can also help with many household tasks, vacuuming, sweeping, washing vegies etc and helps with her younger brother. Is this average behaviour for a 2 year old?

You have a Einstein in training, you could let her start school when shes 3. Teach her things that matter. This is totally normal, every child is different. Yours has a gift of knowledge. Help her, encourage her along the path of success. You are very lucky to have this child.

MY daughter is the same age and is also advanced in a few areas like communications and recognition as well - basically we continue to keep her engaged through reading and exposure to life (museums, events, activities) but don't try to force things.

There is nothing you can do to stop her learning, only encourage it! Also, since she is so young, as others have said, let her be her age and enjoy things - don't feel pressure to keep upping the ante; one pioece of advice is to allow her to progress and match that with appropriate activities.

One thing you might want to conisder for the future is what is the best educational exp - if she is that far advanced, public school may not be the best option depending on the neighborhood. You don't need to worry about that now, but may want to plan and investigate options (public, or private).

No she is way ahead. My four year old would struggle with some of that stuff. You have obviously spent a lot of time with her and kids soak up info like a sponge. You may find though that she will plateau for a while and others will catch up. Its all normal. Maybe get her I.Q. tested in a few years if it continues.
But realise that all kids develop at different rates and try not to compare too much or push her too far. Just enjoy your little einstein, cos they don't stay small for long.

I would say its not impossible, my son just turned 2 and he is pooping on the potty, can use over a dozen words in sign language, can speak basic spanish(dora is awesome isnt she!!!) and does well with most the other things you mentioned, you should be very proud you have a very well developed, gifted child, and im sure you spend a lot of time with her, that makes a huge diffrence!!

My 2 year old son is the very same but he can read some words and count higher he is also able to identify all the letters upper and lower case and he knows his ABC's and many words in sign language. I consulted his doctor and was told that this is VERY unusual . I have read to him and we sing songs but otherwise he has picked all this up on his own. My doctor said just keep things as they are and don't start cramming things down his throat. Just let him be himself.

Don't think so. Hey, maybe your kid is a child prodigy!! You should go to your local school center or whatever it is and ask for an IQ test for your girl. She may be able to start school earlier and it would help to understnad what is going on. I started school early too, even though it was when i was 4. I would love to have a kid like that later on in life! (i'm only 13).

I have 4 younger brothers and at that age they could do a lot of those things. That's not normal, I don't think anyways :), we just have smart kids in our families! My youngest brother is 2 right now and he speaks French, English, and Spanish also!

you have a precocious child - one of my kids talked by the age of 9 months and she could also recognize words . Enjoy your gifted child and read to her all the time but most important get her to be with other children or she will not be socially adjusted . You don't want her to feel different - enjoy all her uniqueness and i wish you a lot of patience

wow, you have a real genius on your hands! start looking at special schools, don't stick her in with the rest of human cattle! No, she's way ahead of her time, if she's just 2. even 2.5, 3 that would be impressive!
