above the back notch and the front blade or is there some other way? If you have some experience with this gun can you help out

First I Invite you to join the swedish Mauser Yahoo group. Next If you have never used open sights, heres the $.02 lesson. Sight the bullseye (plate) to sit directly above the front sight ( without the gap)

The rear notch is alined like this:

So when you shoot, focus the eye on the front sight thus making the bullseye fuzzy and all aligned like this:( but no gap!) Adjust your hold till the rounds hit the black

Mount the rifle on a solid table and sight it in on a target 25 feet away-take a shot and then adjust your sights till they line up with the hole you just made,while leaving the rifle exactly as it was when you fired it.
