So you think they should be able to shoot any noncombatant they want to?
The ends don't justify the means. Part of the reason we have the problems over there that we have is that sort of thinking. We're Americans, not just a piss-pot dictatorship that can do anything they want.
You say lives are involved. You think the poor guy they pulled from his house and executed was a threat? The Marines (the word should be capitalized when used the way you've used it) I know consider the entire episode a disgrace and would be the first to suggest prosecution of the guilty parties.

As a former military member I'm proud to be on the side of the Marines. They are not the bad guys, muderers or villains. Sometimes innocent people get killed in times of war. I believe our soldiers and Marines respond when they are fired at and that that is probably what happened. I think the media should keep their butt out of military business and let the Generals handle each incident.

I feel that, as you said, there will be casualties in war. You can't have a war without innocence being killed. Not that it makes a war, but sometimes it is nearly impossible to discern what is threat and what is not while on the field of battle.
I'm for the Marines. The Marines shouldn't be scapegoated like this! If the government is looking for someone or something to blame this on, blame it on the those who were killed for the inability to cooperate with U.S. forces.

There should be an outcry today from all Americans including the mainstream media and the anti-war lefties in Congress and elsewhere, who have made such noise regarding "inhumane" treatment of captured soldiers or insurgents at Guantanamo or any other place where they are held captive. Can you imagine the outcry there would be today if the situation were reversed? I doubt we will hear the same intensity in their voices or in their printed words regarding these two soldiers. We thank them for their ultimate sacrifice. We pray that God will uphold and provide strength for their families in this difficult time and in the days ahead. May God bless their memory. Let us continue to support and remember our soldiers in your prayers each day

I agree with you. The Liberal media is pressuring the government to show compassion for the monsters we're fighting and I am saddened the gov is leaning to their side. I think the gov is trying to appease everyone and it can't be done. We need to be a little harder and like you said, know that there will be casualties. People don't understand that we are in a war. You can't feel sorry for civilians. You have to kill one to save many. It will turn around, though. You'll see.

If the only evidence that they did anything wrong comes from the enemy...its a pathetic propoganda item that is messing with soldiers. If there is evidence from our own side that suggests they did something wrong they have to be accountable.
You can't put 120,000 people together and not expect someone to get hurt, something to go wrong, and mistakes to be made....add to that population a war and its pure hell.
Bush should pardon these men right now and be done with it. He'd be praised for standing up for the troops and condemned by the left that hates our troops anyway.

It is absolutely horrendous that Americans cannot give our proud military men the benefit of the doubt. On the one hand, you have these ruthless barbarians, who will kidnap, torture, and mutilate our brave fighting men, and meanwhile, back at home, you have a godless left-wing element that denigrates everything America used to stand for, like truth, justice, and the American way. Where is the outrage over the two servicemen who were abominably desecrated? Where is our president to call us to revenge this outrage? It's as if we don't really want to win this war, we just want it to drag on and on, so the companies that profit from wartime business reap their huge windfalls. I say, let's cut loose the American fighting man and let him do his thing, because all this liberal second-guessing is like a dog consuming its own vomit. Semper Fidelis! ---UCSteve
