What is quick time & how do I disengage it?

As a novice, I cannot utilize my Rosetta Stone because of this "Qiuck Time" and do not even know if this is a software question!

Quicktime is a movie playing app. It looks like a little blue Q when running at the bottom of the screen. To turn it off right away, right mouse - click on it at the bottom of your screen (Next to the time) and go to disable or exit. To keep it from comming up when the computer restarts, go to Start - Run - type msconfig then hig there is a tab on the window that pops up called startup.
These are most of the programs that start when your computer starts up. You can uncheck quicktime agent, as well as any other apps that you do not want running.

To resolve the rosetta stone issue, I would need more info such as an error message

uninstall quicktime
click control panel
select add/delete programs
find and click quicktime to uninstall
