I applied for disability 4 months ago and was seen by their doctors 3 weeks ago. The doctors even told me I do not look or seem equipt at this time to work. I've written severel letters every day to Disability hoping that they will respond. Is there a statue of Limitations they have to respond either yes or no or can they just leave you hanging for ever with no answer?

I would say that you need to find a phone number and call. Our friends have been in negotiations with them for over 4 years! Keep writing too. Send it registered mail. Call, call, call!

You're talking about Social Security disability? If so, depending on your state, it takes anywhere from 3-5 months for a decision to be reached (sometimes a little longer depending on each case, how backed up they are, etc.). Call your local SSA office and see if a decision has come back. If it has and it is a denial, you only have 60 days to file an appeal. SSA will give you all the forms you need to file an appeal. Don't delay in filing any appeals or you could possibly have to re-file your claim and start over. Your best weapon in proving your case is your medical records.

Check out SSA's website at www.ssa.gov....there's tons of info there as well.

I applied in December of last year, just had my physical yesterday, you should hear from them within 30 days after your doctors send them the report, contact the doctors you seen and find out how quick they get their reports back to the SSI office that is handling your case. You may have to contact your case worker at the end of the 30 days. You may want to have a lawyer on hand just in case they decline you. They are well known for doing this, most lawyers work on a pro bono, they take a percentage of what is owed to you from the time you filed. The doctor I saw was nice, he said he would do all he could to help me out, but final decision was up to the Nashville SSI Office. They will take their own sweet time if you let them.

Good Luck

Ask them and they will tell you when they will answer. Usually about 3-6 months. Disinissues will give you a much better answer.
