Since we attacked Iraq, and fewer and fewer people are signing up, I think it's been increased to something like 40-42. Before it was something like 34..

Im sorry I don't know the max ages but I do know that the army reserves of all the armed forces allows the oldest enlistment (i started to during the gulf war). If you've been in before they use a constructive age (reducing your age by the number of years you've previously served) Seems to me it was something like 48. That was reserves only. They said you could join the reserves..do so much time then request active duty. I believe the others were closer to late 30's for max age.
Something interesting, I had checked a marine recruiter during the gulf war and they wern't taking any former Marines regardless of age. Seemed strange. Don't know if they still have that policy or not.

I read in the news today that the Army raised the max age to join with no experience to 42!

This includes the Army Reserve and Army National Guard

The minimum age to join any branch of the service is: 17, with parents permission.

The maximun age MAY vary from branch to branch, so you will have to check with your local recruiters.

To join the Army, you can be no older that 42. Prior service military time will be deducted from you age.

The maximum age to enter is entirely dependent upon what you are going in to do (IE: to enter as a neurosurgeon you may be able to get in as old as 50+ and in the O-6 grade to boot!). I'd recommend speaking with a recruiter about your own specifics.

I think it is 35 for reserves and 27 for active duty.
