Diesel got it right.

The Trojan Horse is the source of the saying "Beware of Greeks bearing gifts"--the exact opposite of "don't look a gift horse in the mouth"

the answer is simple ethics.

A Horse has many large teeth.
you can tell the age of a horse by the wear and condition of the teeth.( you look in their mouths)

if some kind person, was to give you a horse ,
And you
then, in-front of the doner, check the horses teeth, look in its mouth.
this could well cause offense

Did you suggest, a friend ,would give you an old worn out
nag?????
hence ;
NEVER LOOK A GIFT HORSE IN THE MOUTH!

Or in these days, never turn your nose up at a gift .

The age of a horse is determinded by there teeth. So when someone is nice enough to give you a horse. You shouldnt look in its mouth and see how old the horse is. Just take it cause a horse was like trading a car back then.

Diesel is right. Horses teeth keep growing and add more in the back so one can tell the age/value of a horse.
Don't consider the value of a gift. Don't complain reject gifts. (at least not in front of the giver)

It means that if someone gives you something, accept it. Unless your talking about the trojan war, in which case, it means to be careful about the gifts that you accept.
