I don't know. I am 25 and I have smoked in the past. I do not anymore because I have kids and responsibilities. I have friends who do and most of them are christians. One of them is one of the most sincere christians I have ever known. And they don't drink or do hard drugs, just a little weed. So I guess that that is something that I really don't know the answer too. But, after some consideration I will say, if the person that is smoking it, is not harming themselves or anyone else and if they are able to function normally then what is the problem?

It is not what a man puts into his body that causes him to sin. It is what comes OUT of men that is sin. The sin is within man's heart. If you have too many drinks and sleep with a prostitute - the drinks weren't the sin at all - they just inhibited you enough to do something that you WANTED to do anyway. In other words, eating pork or drinking beer or having a smoke isn't the sin. Paul says "All things are permissible, but not all things are beneficial" He also says not to do things that may cause another person to stumble or lose their faith. So, in my humble opinion, I think there are many "gray" areas such as smoking weed or cigarettes, drinking wine, eating certain foods, etc. The number one rule is not to cause another person to stumble - so whether or not it's ok for YOU to smoke - it is NOT OK for you to do it in front of someone who may become confused about their own salvation, etc.etc. Other than that - I believe it's genuinely a personal decision. The physical laws of nature will not change - and 'you reap what you sew' Smoking for 30 years may not necessarily be a sin, but the laws of nature still apply - and you can't be expecting God to heal you from a slow and painful death due to lung cancer. You've simply come to the consequences for your actions. Does it mean you lose your salvation? Of course not! But it certainly means that you've wasted the gift of health that God gave you. And finally - and here's the twist - if you BELIEVE that something is a sin and do it anyway - for YOU it is a sin. And it doesn't matter what it is... If I honestly believe that going to the mall on a Sunday is a sin, and I decide "screw God, I'm going to the mall anyway" - well - it IS sin... not the going to the mall part - but the conscious decision to go against God is a sin. I've basically MADE going to the mall on Sunday a sin because I believe in my heart that I must betray God in order to do it... Make sense? This is where so many Christians hurt those around them - the "rules" about these gray areas. Does God want you to smoke and drink? Well of course not! But has He left the decision (and the consequences) up to you? Yes! Cleaning up bad habits isn't a pre-requisite for salvation. That's like saying you should clean up before you take a bath.

I would ask, what's your attitude behind it?

I think it's pretty apparent that smoking weed alters your natural awareness, so I would say, be cautious because of it's effects. The point of smoking weed is the effect it has on you.

As far as a sin, they Bible does say, obey your God given authority, and if it's a law to not smoke weed, and you do, then yes, you're sinning against God given authority (same with a speed limit, which I'm guilty of).

Nothing in and of itself is a sin, it is what you do with it. It is sinful to be intoxicated, that doesnt make wine a sin or even drinking it, but getting drunk is a sin. If someone smokes weed and gets high, they are intoxicated and that is a sin. Also, its against the law of man and we are also supposed to obey mans law. If it were legal and someone smoked it for medicinal purposes or maybe just to relax then no it wouldnt be a sin.

Well, I think weed is bad. It is not good for you, it is illegal, it is addictive. I won't date anyone who does it.

But sin is irrelevant. Sin does not exist. If Jesus died for it, how could it still be around? Law exists, but not as judged by God.

Yes, this means that you are inseperable from God no matter what you do. Does this make me want to smoke weed and rob and murder? No. Because I am not an idiot.

Smoking weed, as you put it, may be a lot of things, against the law being among the worst of it, and probably not good for you, but what it isn't is a sin.

well your arguement does not hold up as far as natural. Marjuana is indeed natural unfortuneatly so is Hemlock..However if you are asking if it is sin...No ..unless you are going to keeping the temple which always was a stretch of any law at best...actually would not matter whether there was a law all Christians are no longer under the penalty of law..we keep the law because we are in the image of Christ....but as to your original question there is no such law but we as Christians should go beyond the letter of the law as the law is now on our hearts. The bible teachs that all things may not be sin but all things are not wise.

okay maybe the weed itself is not doing anything bad that you can see, but the smoking sure is. The burning and consequent inhalation are definetely causing some damage.
And not everything natural is necessarily good. Same thing you said about guns: just because they're around, doesn't mean we should use them.

Not to sure if it is sin but I think it may be against the law. Plus smoking is not any good for you it makes you smell bad.
I know you must think smoking natural herbs enlightens you when you are high that is just what kill brain cell does for you.
