you should have just gone online with that question- go online and type Homemade bird toys. Check out Yahoo(regular), ASK, eHow, - you tube has a lot and you get to watch -get ideas- just type in homemade bird toys. You can also enter in the white box of the Search Y! Answers above this ( under the green stripe going across this site.) and go to some of the posts I previously answered type in What are some safe materials to use for making my macaw some large toys this person wanted safe and cheap lots of the ideas got online but I told her how to get stuff cheaper. Can you give branches of kowhi when in flower to a budgie This one I copied about a page out of one of my many bird books on how to harvest and clean your own branches for your bird for perches or chew material and the list of safe trees that won't poison your bird. You can also go to the sites online that I mentioned and type in Homemade treats for birds or homemade bird treats ,etc, and when I just tried it I got over one page at one site- you could also enter something like homemade treats for a parrot (or specific parrot- yeah it makes a difference because of how many parrot species there are and their different diet requirements) - the new thing is breads - i got lots of recipes in my books but that is too much typing - especially when the online stuff is already there and more and more stuff is available - you can also go to those site and type in just your bird species - like ring neck parrotlets diet or food and half of them will have side bars or treats listed also- the same if you enter your species and find all the sites about your bird in particular and the fan clubs or info sites have recipes also that the club member submitted-- so check them out- hey I found them and I am a grandmother with less than 2 years experience with computers -( i still cannot figure out 3/4 of what is in the owners manuel or all these buttons are for like ESC and F1 and arrow/ll are on the upper part of this key board are for) have fun researching and I hope you little one gets lots of fun and goodies. :)

Tennis balls and other balls will work wonders, because most dogs love playing with them. For homemade treats, you could take beef jerky and soak it in water, and then dry it, so it won't be too salty but it will still have a beefy taste. Some dogs really like rice, and it's also good for their fur.

Arm & Hammer baking soda has a little brochure that they will send you, if you call their number 1-800-524-1328 Mon-Fri, 9-5 ET.
It tells how to make homemade play dough, and how to color it using food color (safe for kids). They also have suggestions on what you can make with it.
Lastly, you can go to their website www.armhammer.com

old socks shouldnt be used for a dog that tends to shred things up. if it swallows bits of the sock it could get stuck in his intestines and casue a blockage.

We used to fill old socks with newspaper or other old socks for our dogs. Home made treats are not an issue for us, though. My husband works at the dog food factory so we always have treats!

Hey Sinfully...You can't give a dog browmies-dogs can't have chocolate.
