Chips are the British equivalent of french fries, yeah. :) Crisps are potato chips.

Oh, umm... by the way... Zaevodnik or whatever your name was? Axe the slur, huh? Americans didn't invent the English language, we don't have to pretend we own it, thanks. :) Have a little respect for history and connections, huh?

The common term "fries" is the inappropriate term for fried potatoes. Our language came from England and they call them chips, therefore, they do come with chips, the question is, why do some people call chips fries?

It is a British dish. Chips in England are fries. Therefore, fish and chips in England= fish and fries in America.

Oh, and it England they put salt and vinegar on the "chips". Delish!

Its not only the British that use the term 'Chips' for their fries. Us here in S.A. also do! Nothing wrong with that.

Chips are fries, its just another term used for fries.

It is actually chips if you think about it....Chips of potato as opposed to the whole potato. Why would they be called French Fries when they aren't made in France ?
