I myself am a US Army Ranger. I have worked with the Navy SEALS unit before, and I must say, they are among some of the most lethal and highly trained military men in the whole world.

There is no "supreme" fighting force though, I'm afraid to say. it's all a matter of opinion of course, but you choose the right tool for the right job. Now I wouldn't want to be involved in a mainly amphibious operation due to my semi-low level of experience in that field, I would rather have a person (meaning a SEAL) who is mroe qualified than me to do the job, than myself. Now if it were a land or air operation. Call me in. They don't call us the "Army Airborne Rangers" for nothing! lol and plus...SEALS don't belong on land.

Of course...there is Delta Force and the Marines new SOCOM units...

It's all a matter of the job my friend. Join the military then come back and ask yourself that question again.

We can't say one is the toughest without setting a specific criteria of standards.Toughest got a lot of meaning for a special forces definition. But surely Seals is ONE of the toughest in the world.Should be a competition of combat among all the Special Forces around the world to determine that.

All Special Operations forces differ from each other in many ways. Asking if Navy Seals are the "toughest" will probably get you many answers, but I doubt any will be 100% correct. There are tough men and women everywhere, not just spec ops. In my opinion, toughness is all about intelligence, adaptability, and mental endurance.

a lot of you have valid points and it is a hard desicion to make. I dont think there is a difinitive answer. I think it all depends on the type of mission. As far as in American services, other than secret units nobody knows about, the hardest and toughest special services unit is probably the Airforce's Para-rescue. I've know "green berets" and rangers, and Navy SeALs who all have failed out of para-rescue.

Not exactly...Navy Seals are the best when water is involved...Army Rangers are the best on land in rough terrain...Marine Spec. Forces are best at attacking beach heads & small targets...Though a couple other countries have some pretty fierce fighting units too...

the special forces of the differenty barnches of the armed forces were having a campfire, the army green beret said " I am so tough, that I can jump out of a plane at 8000 foot with no parachute and walk away unscratched, not to be out done the Marine Recon ranger said man I am tougher than that I can take on a full platoon of enemy soldiers with my bare hands, The Navy SEAL sat quiet and stirred the campfire with his penis... Now thats tough

Not a chance. The SAS are the dogs, no other force are anything like these men. Comparing the SAS against the seals is like comparing a sports car to a toy car!!!!!!
