I have a female indoor cat. I think she's attracted to the smell of my gym bag after I bring it home with my sweaty clothes in it. Don't ask me why. She then likes to piss on it. Her litter box isn't full, and I don't have a real problem with her pissing anywhere else in the house.

well get in the habit of putting your jym bag in a closet or something where she cannot get to it. throw the jym bag in the washer on hot with detergent and a couple cups of vinegar.
it should help remove the smell. i would suggest bleach, but that might alter the color of the bag. she may still be able to smell pee on the bag even after washing so kepp it away from her and don't leave smelly clothes in there for long. she might also be thinking to herself, "hey, this smells like my dad, i'm going to mark it so any other cats know he is my dad". ahhhh! she's so sweet.
ps. don't get rid of the cat, and she is not mad at you she is just attracted to the scent. it's natural and nothing to punish her for.

First of all, cleaning out your gym bag is very important. Take some cleaner like baking soda or vinegar or pet cleaner. Put it on and wipe with a wet cloth. If it doesnt take away the smell, it may be time for a new gym bag.

To get your cat to stop pissing on it, put the bag where the cat can not reach it! If its out of sight or in the top of your closent, the cat cant get the bag! Good luck!

if you wash it you need to put vinegar in there to get rid of the smell since no laundry soap or fabric softener is gonna do it. Then if you keep taking the bag into the house u need to put it under the sink or in a cabinet or closet. Maybe even a plastic tote would keep her away from it. That is a big bad smell tho and maybe she is just telling you that your spending to much time at the gym and not enough at home with her.. lol Good luck

Your cat is peeing on your bag because she's trying to get your attention. Cats can't say, "Hey human, I don't feel good!" She most likely has a urinary tract infection. Take her to the vet. She'll require antibiotics that'll run you about $10. Anytime a cat acts out of character and urinates on things that you use frequently, they're trying to tell you something. When you get the antibiotic, ask for it in pill for, and ask your vet for a "piller". It's a stick thing that puts the pill in the back of the cats throat and has saved my fingers from death many times. Good luck.

Yes, I agree with the others on tossing the bag out...other than that, there are sprays at your local pet store that will deter them from peeing in certain areas...make sure you show her loving when you are home...cats get upset when their owners leave them often. Natures Miracle is a good brand on cleaning up after animals...just look in the same aisle as that at your local PetCo or PetSmart and you'll find what you need. Good luck!

I would either throw the gym bag out or throw it in the washing machine. If you should get another bag and the cat pees on it, well I would put the bag up so the cat couldn't pee on it.

Once kitty-kitty has pee'd in one spot, she'll continue. I found that out through the following website. I am going to try this stuff myself. I found out my old cat had bad kidneys. She's OK now, put the carpet isn't. Read on:

Reasons why you may have failed to remove urine odors.

Not using a high grade bacterial odor remover
Using a pre-mixed urine odor remover that may have degraded over time
Using a spray type odor remover that only treats the surface of the carpet
Not treating the area more than once

(1) Throw the bag out.
(2) Leave the bag in the car and carry the clothes in and out.
(3) Use a spray bottle and spray the cat's face when it does that.
Good Luck!

Throw the gym bag away. Seriously. Get a new one at ther dollar store, it's not worth it.
Don't keep anything on your floor, especially the closet. Your shoes are next.
She's mad at you. Show her love.
