Until now? Are you saying it's no longer going to be popular? Well anyway, the answer is simple, everyone girl loves a love story, every guy loves action, like sword fights, and everyone loves drama! So Romeo and Juliet will always be popular because it's relatable to a point, because it's the kind of story that can happen to a point in real life. I.E. families fighting, but the children fall in love with each other but can't be together, I'm sure it isn't as extreme, but it happens. Plus this story was definately ahead of it's time, always will be. Sorry for the long response.

I think that the story of Romeo and Juliet is classically tragic- it has appealed to people for centuries, and it will continue to do so, because the inhibitions of people, and the concept of love, never change.

Because it is one of Shakespeare's simplests pieces. If you read any other Shakespeare's master pieces, they are very difficult to understand. Not to mention it's a tragedy, and everyone loves drama and tragedy....that's why people watch soap operas.
