Why do Christians even debate about it when no other religion does it?

Because no other religion in the mainstream has ever ordained an openly gay clergy before Bishop V Gene Robinson and maybe a few others.Muslims have never ordained a clergyman that was openly gay and neither has a Hindu as far as I know.
People are silly about this subject.They think that just because someone is gay they can't be a loving and devoted clergymen.What they don't realize is that statistics would probably guarantee that there are quite a few closeted gays in the clergy of virtually every religion.

If there was a widespread child molestating scandal as has occurred in the US RCC in those other religions, the debate would rage there too.

Muslims don't debate it because they just kill the gays. Muslims kill everybody that isn't exactly like them. Why don't you ask a question like "just exactly how are Muslims different from Nazis?"
