I don't understand the things that are said in the bible, it just doesn't make any sense to the world we live in today.

Let's see here! For starters, the Bible says that masters are to treat their slaves well. The last time I checked, most people in the West considered slavery unacceptable and slavery was outlawed throughout the West, so that rule certainly doesn't apply to us. Also, Lot had sex with his daughters, so they could repopulate the area in which they lived. We know a great deal about the dangers of inbreeding today. Not only that, but about 99.9% of us would probably agree that inbreeding is invariably wrong, so (thankfully) we don't have too many people emulating the behavior of Lot and his daughters. Last but certainly not least, the Bible says that the man is to be the head of the family. I think that anyone who's been around a while knows that there are plenty of instances in which the wife should be at the helm instead of the husband, so that's another load of BS.

The Bible is not intended to match todays world word for word. It is the lessons it teaches for living a good life. These teaching are never outdated.

The Bible teachings are very important. One of the most important teaching is the Ten Commandants.

What is hard to understand about "THOU SHALL NOT COMITT ADULTERY! This doesn't say or Imply "Unless you meet a really *****'in babe and just gotta have her"!

"THOU SHALL NOT COVET THY NEIGHBORS WIFE"! Simple to understand this. Don't try to have sex with anothers mans wife or take her away from him. It doesn't say "Unless he's treating her bad and you will treat her better"!

Here is something that might have you confused.

Jesus teaches that it is, sometimes, necessary for a man to divorce his wife.

Later in the Temple he teaches that a man who divorces his wife will be considered an Adulterer when he remarries. His wife will also be an Adulterer when she remarries, but the man who divorce her will be held responsible for her Adultery.

In one statement it sound like he says Divorce is Okay, and in another he says it's not Okay.

What he is saying is that Divorce is a very serious matter to God and, therefore, should be equally serious to you. Divorce should not be taken lightly and should only be used when all else has failed.

Look at today with NO FAULT divorces. 50% of all married couples will divorce. Divorce should be very hard to get and take many years. Only after all attempts to correct the issues have failed, should the Divorce be granted.

He teaches that getting divorced for the wrong reason and without all possible attempt to correct it, you have broken one of the Ten Commandents and will be punished for it.

To me the Bible teachings are very pertanent to today's world. Probably more today than ever in history.

Do not fall victim to the God haters and those who have never been introduced to him. The God haters want to brainwash you into turning away from God. Isn't this Satan's goal. These people are Evil. The other who never learned about him are just Ignorant.

Live by the Ten Commandments and you will have a good and happy life. I'm not saying there won't be hard times, cause, there will be. It's how you live by the Ten Commandments during the hard and bad times that will show the true measure of the man you are.

Believe in, Trust him, rely on and ask for his help and guidance and you will have a great life, now and later.

The reason we need the bible now more that ever is because it does not fit in today's world. We are a long way from what we should. The bible is the way back. If we all followed the bibles teachings then we all would be closer to it and then you would see why it is important.

Agreed. We know how to cook pork now, our water is relatively clean, and we don't have to avoid every kind of sex that doesn't produce offspring in order to make sure we have as many children as possible, because 2 out of 3 of them aren't going to die these days. I've never believed in god, but I do think that the bible was a helpful guide on how to not do some stupid things. Was.

It depends. The values, and alegorical stories are as good a source of guidance today, as any other time. Ignore the fire and brimstone, godsmack facet to the bible, and you'll still have an interesting book on the history of the time periods. Most of the lessons, and values are worthwhile regardless if one's a christian.

Mostly, no it isn't relevant. There are a few tidbits that are, but they are so jumbled up in ancient myths and nonsense that it just isn't worth looking for them. The same nuggets of wisdom can be found elsewhere in more compact forms.

Of course. We learn about how to treat othrs, how to be loving, how family life can be truly happy, what happens when our loved ones die, and hope for the future. Doesn't this sound relevant to you?
