Does anyone know where I can go to find grants to apply for to use with my students?

I am trying to plan a field trip of a lifetime for them and need funding help.

Does anyone know perhaps of a corporation that might sponsor us?

Any direction will help, and will be greatly appreciated!! :o)

Thank you to everyone for the ideas so far!!

I am in Texas and work in a low socioeconomic school district.

I am hoping to take my 8th grade students to the east coast to experience Washington DC and the Boston area in person.

I have already contacted a tour agency and the pricing is going to be expensive, (it will take more than washing cars and selling gift wrap-which i'm sure we'll do anyway:o)

I do not want to let the high cost extinguish my hope for making this trip happen for them.

I want them not to only learn about Gettysburg from their textbooks, but to actually stand on the actual sacred ground and reflect what they have learned.

I can just imagine their faces if they stood in the exact location where MLKJ gave his speech in front of the Lincoln Memorial, or their expressions of seeing where the Boston Tea Party actually happened.

Call me a dreamer, but I hope to give my kids a chance of a lifetime...most of them have never been out of the metroplex..

I don't know specifics, but it'd depend alot on the nature of the field trip. Take whatever area of study will benefit from the trip. (ie: diversity, history, whatever) This'll give ya "steering" when looking for grants. If ya can make a good case for the trip's benefit to the area of study, there'll be both private, and pulic funds out there to be gotten.
Fundraisers are another possibility.....

Wells Fargo and Bank of America fund education grants for teachers. You might also contact the place you are trying to go to and see if they will make any deals with you.

have you tried to do a search engine for it? Also you can go to your school systems website to search. Try to google "grants for schools" or "grants for classrooms" "grants for educators". Have your students do a fundraiser. Candy may not be "good" for you but it usually makes LOADS of funding for your field trips!
