Lust can be the sexual manifestation of love. You can have lust without love but not love without lust.
When you lust after someone, you are excited by them physically, etc but when you love that person you then look for other things to go with the physical, like common hobbies, the ability to communicate and understand each other, how to appreciate just sitting next to that person for an hour without saying a thing and then feel as though you just had the liveliest conversation ever, etc.

Lust is simply attraction, while love is honest caring about a person's welfare. Teenagers often get the two mixed up.
Also, lust comes and goes quickly, while love takes a long time to grow, and an even longer time to fade. Or in many cases it never fades...

Until Lust has been satisfied, there is no absolute way to tell. However, time is a much better indication as to lasting Love.
But remember, it takes at least two to love, giving and receiving equally, do you give more? If so its probably Lust.

When you truly love someone, you get aroused by who they are, not what they look like. For example, my soulmate and I would be attracted to each other no matter what we looked like, whether we gained a hundred pounds, lost our hair, got an amputation, etc. We don't just get turned on by our looks, it's much deeper than that. Imagine your potential love with no hair, add a hundred pounds, and see if you would still love them. If the answer's no, it's just lust.

love takes longer then lust, when i am in love i want to give things and do things for the girl. when i am in lust i just want to sleep with her and experience her for awhile
