My Home Association fees are way above the average and we still pay assesments for the services that are supposed to be covered like roof replacements, fencing, and exterior painting. Is there a law against the high fees and what can I do legally if I wanted to change management?

Homeowners Associations are voting on by the residents. You must take this up with the Association, helps if you have several neighbors who feel as you do.

I was once a Condo owner and member of our association. The monies collected are to be used for repairs/upgrades. Is the association managed by an outside company? If so, then they will be charging a fee for their services which include anything from postage to legal fees. You'd be amazed what an outside management company can charge. The owners of the association finally voted out the management company when we found out they were giving repair jobs to their own company which also ran a handyman service. We were paying them twice! We all eventually voted for a reputable CPA to manage our association. The problems ended. Everyone happy. You can contact the State directly for such matters (ie: Condo Associations)

There's nothing you can do, other than vote out the board that currently runs it, and vote in people who want to lower fees. That's the risk of buying a house with HOA.

Ask to see the books, ask them to compare $$$ with other company's, for the same work, don't we all look for the best price the best workmanship ?? Ask the Mayor for some ideas, go to a city board meeting and bring up your question there.

Get the other members of the Associaton to vote on these matters. Also demand ( voters have to do this) to show where and why all of these funds are needed

I would go to your neighbors and have them sign a petition for lower costs and then submit it to the Association.
