Actually Jesus never started a religion...
Never came to establish one
Never encouraged it either.

His teachings are based on Freedom... and one freedom is to be free from religion in the first place.

If you see religions or their scriptures as a means to understand yourself rather than something to follow and be submitted to... You will be on the right track !

Good luck !

The Bible is full of Islamic prophesies. One that I recall is in genesis ~from the seed of Ishmael I will create a great nation and from him 12 princes will be descendant of. Prophet Muhammad (SAW) was the only one to claim to be from prophet Ishmael plus he had 12 righteous descendants, as also stated in bukhari. The Bible also says that false prophets will not be successful but in the not to far off future, Islam will be the largest religion in this planet. Plus prophet Abraham and prophet Ishmael build the Kaba, and prophet Ishmael is buried there beside the building. Note, prophet Jesus did not have a father and was born of a Virgin Mary with the spirit, but prophet Adam had neither a mother or father and was made of the spirit without any previous human connection. If prophet Jesus brought the dead person to life, prophet Moses brought an inanimate piece of wood into a snake which is more miraculous. What is the miracle of Prophet Muhammad (SAW)? A Book, the Holy Qur'an, unchanged with proof for 1400 years, what other book can claim this? And if you think it was just good book keeping, there is a verse there claiming that God will protect the Holy Qur'an from any changes. Also the banned Bible according to St. Barnabas clearly states that Prophet Muhammad (SAW) will come after prophet Jesus.

You are going to get a lot of different answers on this question, but the problem is that in the Bible Jesus talks about following him and he never mentions a name of a church. So every religion likes to believe that they are the true followers of Christ. I personally am LDS (Mormon) and I believe that all religions that teach of Christ, Preach Christ, and persuade others to be good people are acceptable to Christ. If your interested in knowing about the LDS religion I can help you with that, but most importantly is that a religion teaches of Christ and follows his teachings. Good question.

You shouldn't be a religious person. You should try some churches and whatever one teaches the best so that you could understand it then thats what church you join. The bible is the religion you want. Just love God and follow that. Loving God has no religion.

There is no easy cut and dry answer to your question, but here are some questions and scriptures you can consider in determining.

How can a person know which religion is right?

(1) On what are its teachings based? Are they from God, or are they largely from men? (2 Tim. 3:16; Mark 7:7)

(2) Consider whether it is making known the name of God. Jesus said in prayer to God: “I have made your name manifest to the men you gave me out of the world.” (John 17:6) (Matt. 4:10)

(3) Is true faith in Jesus Christ being demonstrated? This involves appreciation of the value of the sacrifice of Jesus’ human life and of his position today as heavenly King. (John 3:36; Ps. 2:6-8) Such appreciation is shown by obeying Jesus—Jas. 2:26.

(4) Is it largely ritualistic, a formality, or is it a way of life? God strongly disapproves of religion that is merely a formalism. (Isa. 1:15-17)
True religion upholds the Bible’s standard of morality and clean speech instead of weakly going along with popular trends. (1 Cor. 5:9-13; Eph. 5:3-5)
Its members reflect the fruits of God’s spirit in their lives. (Gal. 5:22, 23)
So, those who adhere to true worship can be identified because they sincerely endeavor to apply Bible standards in their lives not only at their places of meeting but in their family life, at their secular work, in school, and in recreation.

(5) Do its members truly love one another? Jesus said: “By this all will know that you are my disciples, if you have love among yourselves.” (John 13:35) Such love reaches across racial, social, and national boundaries, drawing people together in genuine brotherhood. So strong is this love that it sets them apart as being truly different. When the nations go to war, who have enough love for their Christian brothers in other lands that they refuse to take up arms and kill them? That is what early Christians did.

(6) Is it truly separate from the world? (John 15:19) To worship God in a manner that he approves requires that we keep ourselves “without spot from the world.” (Jas. 1:27,1 John 2:15-17.)

(7) Are its members active witnesses concerning God’s Kingdom? Jesus foretold: “This good news of the kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations; and then the end will come.” (Matt. 24:14) What religion is really proclaiming God’s Kingdom as the hope of mankind instead of encouraging people to look to human rulership to solve their problems? Has your religion equipped you to share in this activity, and to do it from house to house as Jesus taught his apostles to do?—Matt. 10:7, 11-13; Acts 5:42; 20:20.

We believe in Allah and that which has been sent down to us and that which has been sent down to Ibrahim (Abraham), Ismail (Ishmael), Ishaque (Isaac), Yaqoob (Jacob), and to Al-Asbat (the twelve sons of Yaqoob (Jacob)), and that which has been given to Moosa (moses) and Iesa (jesus), and that which has been given to the Prophets from their Lord. We make no distinction between any of them, and to Him we have submitted (in Islam)."

Those Messengers! We preferred some to others; to some of them Allah spoke (directly); others He raised to degrees (of honour); and to Iesa (jesus), the son of Maryam (Mary), We gave clear proofs and evidences, and supported him with Rooh-ul-Qudus (Jibrael (Gabriel)). If Allah had willed, succeeding generations would not have fought against each other, after clear Verses of Allah had come to them, but they differed - some of them believed and others disbelieved. If Allah had willed, they would not have fought against one another, but Allah does what He likes

Remember) when the angels said: "O Maryam (Mary)! Verily, Allah gives you the glad tidings of a Word ("Be!" - and he was! i.e. Iesa (jesus) the son of Maryam (Mary)) from Him, his name will be the Messiah Iesa (jesus), the son of Maryam (Mary), held in honour in this world and in the Hereafter, and will be one of those who are near to Allah."

And He (Allah) will teach him (Iesa (jesus)) the Book and Al-Hikmah (i.e. the Sunnah, the faultless speech of the Prophets, wisdom, etc.), (and) the Taurat (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel
