why cant people believe in god and not have a religion. religion tears people apart, it destroys lives, it splits up countries and continents, it destroys the world, it is all a lie, and people make money off of it!!! i go to church maybe once a year, and thats on easter, only because it makes my mom feel good when she sees me in church!....ive been living on this planet for 18 years, and i cant believe older people dont realize this!!, oh and by the way, me and my family are healthy, and better off, as compared to some family friends that go to church every sunday........and give money to the church.....so tell me, why cant people just believe in god....?

Yes you can. Your belief is strong in fact, because you know you don' t need to be seen in church to feel more spiritual.

Church will only deaden your spirituality. And according to the work of Christ, you don't have to believe in Him either. He died for that act too.

So believe as you wish. It is your heart and your life. You cannot escape God. He is you. Religion will only teach you seperation.

Geez, dude, I don't know. Get a grip though, you remind me too much of me (and boy do I have a desire to change the world by getting in a pissy attitude and expressing myself somehow).

Anyways, about God with or without religion...I believe that people CAN just believe in God, but at some point in their life, they feel that worshiping needs to be done by a group. I used to be a practicing Catholic and go to Mass every Sunday with my family, trying to understand my religion and be the best person I could possibly be...and it didn't exactly work for me. Now I'm a Solitary Wiccan/Witch (still researching to figure out what people would call me by definition so that I can give them a SIMPLE answer as opposed to "the kind of religion with nature that was supposedly founded by so and so but such and such happened and blah blah blah"). This means that I can worship my own deities and not have to rely on anyone but myself as far as faithfulness to my religion.

The ideal structure of religion, in my opinion, which would not necessarily fit all religions in existence because of dogmatic restrictions, would follow this pattern:

One person, you alone, need to believe in your deity. Any worship of that deity may be performed by a group of people (for the feeling of unity) but it is not required. Religious leaders must have a day job and merely volunteer to teach the lessons of that religion. And any other rule or requirement to worship could be worked out by the one that wishes to worship! That's it!

I don't see what relevance there is in your being better off or healthier than some of your fellow church-goers...but I'm sure you had a reason to include that little factoid.

"Religion" does not tear people apart...MAN does. Christianity for instance, is not "evil", but some actions that MAN has done in the name of Christianity has been evil.
Religion is a dogma and belief system...it can be corrupted by evil, it be torn apart by evil...but religion isn't evil in and of itself.
You're 18...I'm 21, why can't you understand that some people like religion...why can't you understand that some people need religion. You're sounding just as bad as some "religious" people...you're way or the highway huh? How very dogmatic of you.
You're falling prey to the exact same thing that you're supposedly "warning" everyone about. You can believe in God without a Church...but not without a religion. Everything that has a dogma, a belief, is a religion...don't believe me, look religion up in the dictionary.
Instead of trying to sound old...why don't you try to learn...then, that way, you will have maturity to back up what you say...instead of a the "years" of your age.

I Believe you can! I have a hard time trusting People at churches, So I choose not to go. I think as long as you believe Jesus Died For YOU and EVERYONE else you will be fine. Allot of older people are use to the way this use to be some are very old fashion. Just believe and try to pray every now and then and you will be fine!!

A good question. The faith of people come from different corners of the world. No single group of people think alike and hence different people think differently. Similarly the faith practiced at one particular place is not the same at a different place. More over, the reiligion is tainted with colour of money as bait and poor people are offered money by rich religious people making these people follow their particular religion. The solution is all people should think the way you think - just believe in God wihout giving it a religious twist. Problem is how do you practice your belief in God !!

Because we ACT upon what we truly believe. Real belief demands a response. If you really believe that your house is on fire, you'll get up and get out as fast as you can. Belief demands action.

And actions demand order (as opposed to chaos, everybody just doing their own thing, like running over others to get out of the house on fire). Merely believing and acting, without some kind of orderliness, is random chaos.

For those of us who believe the Bible is inspired absolute truth, it speaks of the kingdom of God having a GOVERNMENT. If we truly believe, then we act. If we believe God has a government, then we submit to that government.

There's a REALLY GREAT article about this that helps answer the objection, "why do we need churches" at the link below.

cuz god told us the religion to belive in and if we belive in god we must listen to what he says.its not that religion tears people apart its that people tore away the true religion and started making religions of their own. once the world was filled with my religion and god gave those people everything they needed but when that happened they forgote their religion and they only focused on these worldly goods. and they focused on their money and forgote the religion then after that they made up new things to belive in and this is where it led us to.so heres an example for u if u belive that a apple tastes good and you never tried it what good will that do you. u must know god and liten to god and then the truth in belife will come out. right now ur just saying that u belive in god but in ur heart truely dont. i am only 13 and know this and u dont. u cant say hat to older people because i have said it to you. i swear i am only 13.
