Ok- I am trying to think of different off beat things for wedding favors and centerpieces. I am trying to have a very fun and different wedding. So far I have decided that I am having a Masquerade Ball Wedding and we are going to ask the guest to please wear black or white. The invitations will read something like Black and White Ball.... We are going to supply feather mask for the guest at the tables. My dress is either going to be a medium pink or hot pink and the bridesmaids will be black and white.
I have check out all the basic things for favors- CDs, Candy, Cookies, baskets, candles, cookie cutters ect... but none of them are different enough. I really like the small bottles of wine but they were $5.00 per person and we are having 200 guest- OUCH!
For centerpieces- I like something different then flowers...
Any ideas no matter how crazy or weird are greatly appreicated!
Yes, I am a very tacky!! And I don't need any comments about how different and strange I am!!

sounds like you are going to have an awesome and fun wedding!! that;s great!!!
center pieces--- since you are doing feather masks for your guests find peacock and/or other large feathers and put them in a vase instead of flowers.... what about just some unique flowers that you wouldn't normally see in your area or at a wedding in general?? i don't know why but mini disco balls with candles around to have sparkles bouncing off sound good to me too...
wedding favors-- wow--- i can't come up woth anything that is out of the norm?! i would think that your feather masks with a nice tiny note (rolled up like a scroll) attached thanking them for their attendance would be a good favor in themselves.
good luck- have a wonderful wedding and do what you want and don't let people discourage you!! :)

I think it is so cool that you want to plan a wedding everyone will remember!
*You can make the masks part of you centerpieces.
*Why not put beta fish in vases and small candles around it.
*ok this may sound so strange but you cold also get a bird cage and decorate it with feathers and flowers and place a dove, of another bird in there.
* If you like wine, why not get a bigger bottle and make that the centerpiece (along with fruits to complement it), your guest will have fun drinking it, and nothing bring people together than wine.
* Instead of flowers try bamboo
* You can also find candles and make those the centerpieces.
* If you want to get wild you can give massage oils as favors
That's all I can think of now, but if have anything else I'll let you know.

When my moms friend got married, she made her centerpieces and they were awesome. They looked like gloves arms and hand kins of twisted and in the hands you can place flowers or a candle and they were painted a glossy black colour. Try a craft store for a mold to make something similar. If I lived near you I would definitely make them for you cuz I love that kind of stuff and they are truely awesome looking. My mom still has hers because she was in the wedding and the wedding party got to keep them. As for favors at the wedding, a fried of mine for work had wine coolers made for her really cheap and they were big bottle too and they put their own lables on them. She gave me one that she had left over and it was awesome. Also, remember that if you do something like that you can give one bottle per couple instead of for each person because they are bigger. I think your wedding sounds awesome. The more different and creative the better. Best of luck to you.
oh...and go for the hot pink for sure!

VERY cool ideas you have. Go with the hot pink dress definately. Can all of us who answered your questions come to the wedding?
I would go with solid black and soild white pillar candles in a glass vase. Get some theatrical mask confetti (sold at Hobby Lobby and Michaels) and sprinkle it on the tables. Maybe you could even find small ceramic theatrical masks or mardi gras masks and give those as favors. try Oriental Trading company.
Good luck. you rock.

Here is something my sister did, you can use it as a center piece and a favor to take home.
Betta fish, and a clear vase. The fish are cheap and you can buy the vases bulk. Beta fish come in a variety of colors and need little care. You can get creative and add flowers to it or colorful rocks at the bottom. Then the guest have something to take home with them if they wish. they are beautiful Fish and would look great. so there is an idea.

For party favors you might try noise makers or confetti. For centerpieces you could arrange your guests masks like flowers in the center of their tables. Watch some old movies, try you local library for older books on etiquette and entertaining, you will likely find just the thing.
Have fun, sounds like a good time to me.

Even though I'm not a big fan of costumey-type weddings, I actually like your idea with the color scheme you having going on. Instead of going cooky with the favors, I would instead make it more an an elegant theme...you already have the colors for elegant. I would make one dark chocolate heart and one white chocolate heart and put them in a shimmery, sheer, fabric bag with a black and white ribbon. You can make chocolate for pennies and you can sew the bags. For centerpieces, I would simply purchase large white candles and put a black satin riibbon around the middle and cut out black and white paper hearts with glitter around the edges, to scatter around the base of the candle. You can purchase large cream/white battery operated candles from Costco (6 for $20.00). Floating candles in a wide bowl filled with water is always nice too.

how low is the ceiling? ask your site director about haning chandeliers all over the room at varied heights.
candleabra (mini ones) as centerpieces w/ jewels (fake) sprinkled at the base.
envelope fold napkins w/ a feather tucked in for pizazz
have one bottle of closed wine at each table. attach a paint pen-and instructions for your guests to sign the bottle w/ best wishes etc. Then you and your hubby can celebrate as the years go by and read the messages left by your guests as you do.
as gifts- you don't have to give a gift to ea. seperate person. leave one per couple. how about a cd w/ themed music to coordinate w/ the night? or a bottle of mini champagne per couple to enjoy later? or how about a "morning after" gift pack w/ mini juice bottles and croissants/ muffins/ individual coffee packs for the next day? or for the ladies- sachets for lingerie drawers- used to be very popular in the masquerade era. for the gents, cigars. so many ideas....
you really need to make sure the room sets your tone. low lighting / tons of candles/ dramatic music/ period correct details etc. they will be talking about it forever :D

You might find cookie cutters in a shape that would match your wedding ideas...and then decorate them with icing or initials. You can check out www.wilton.com for some. You can also buy the sticks to make cookies on a sucker stick. You might also be able to find some beads or those comedy/tragedy masks that you see as decoration for mardi gras. That might go along with the feather eyewear.

I just wanted to respond to the suggestion of using peacock feathers....There is a silly superstition that peacock feathers inside are bad luck. I have some on top of my buffet....hmmm maybe that is why I crashed up my car and never have any money.
The last wedding I went to had hand-made little soaps for the ladies and the groom gave all the men fishing flies he had made himself because that is what he does.
Another wedding had homemade cd's for everyone with the couple's favorite romantic songs. I wonder if that was legal.
