Yes. It' s actually BarMitvah. Also Bas Mitvahs for the girls. It's fun and very much like a wedding reception but no bride. Bank, food, flowers, celebration. It recognizes the transition into adulthood. The speech ends with "today I am a man"

yes many... and had one...they are great!!!! but i just never cease to think that even today 13 y.o are not MEN and never will be.
it would be more appropriate to be done at 16 or 18...
It was originally 13 because people died at 30 on average back then - 45 - 50 was considered oldddddd

lol I had my Bat Mizvah last saturday they are fun but its alot of work and really hard to prepare for.
