Dang Girl! there plenty to do... This is what a day if I where showing someone around. First thing I would make sure to get tickets to the Getty Villa... You can go to Getty.org for tickets or better yet call them you are more likely to get tickets if you call. Let's say you got tickets for Saturday late morning. I would drive to Downtown LA to get breakfast at this really cool small sidewalk cafe called Angelique's for breakfast. Then drive to the Villa do take the guided tour of the Villa take pictures. You should be done with the Villa by 3-4 giving you plenty of time to go to Santa Monica since you will be close by you should be done by 6 now go home change put on something nice and either go to the Windows for dinner/martini and sunset with a view of downtown LA and watch the lights come up (I would make reservations)... or if you want just drinks head down to Bonaventure for the BuenaVista Lounge (a 360 rotating lounge). From there I would Either head up to the Abby or one of the other Clubs Down Santa Monica Blvd in West Hollywood (Yes it's gay so that meaning to can go out and have fun and not worry about guys grabbing your Arses. Other thing you can do it go to Vince Beach, Any of the four close theme parks, there's the Block at Orange, City Walk, the Grove, the clubs at Hollywood and Highland, Melrose, Sunset strip, 2 Lighthouses actually 3 Angles Gate. If you ever wanted to go to Venice Italy we have some canals here in LA that you can take a gondola ride... Try www.Gondolagetaway.com for info. One last suggestion... I would pick up a few thing to help you make a decission as to what to do... If I were you I would pick up the Thursday issue of the LA times just for the Calendaer weekend (here you can find new places to eat, dance and upcoming events and festivals) and also pick up Los Angeles magazine (just like the Calendar weekend just bigger with way more ideas) Hopefully I helped you out enough? Have fun.

How about Palm Springs? Hotels are cheap in the summer. Why? Because it's very very hot. But you can stay by the pool, have cocktails, relax! In the evening, go out for great food and stroll through town as it cools down. We also have a really cool tram that takes you up into the mountains for great views and hiking, and it's usually twenty degrees cooler up there.

Good stuff:
The Living Desert (zoo)
IMAX theater
Shopping on El Paseo
Uptown Grill restaurant
Taqueria San Marcos restaurant
Art Museum
The Tram
Thursday night street fair

If you can go as far south as San Diego the zoo is excellent. Sea world and also the beaches make it a nice place to spend a full day or more.

Classic answer would probably be Disney World, but its expensive and tends to get overrun with small kids now that school is out.

Sports can be enjoyable too - several Baseball options currently.
