He would not be needing his space or wanting to be just friends if he were truly in love with you. I know it is hard after having all that time invested in a relationship. It is best to just move on. The book that has helped me tremendously is "Don't Call That Man!" by Rhonda Findling. I cried and cried, but kept turning every page. It really helped me realize why I was choosing the relationships that were hurtful over a relationship that was great. It helped me move on. Another benefit of the book is learning how to be more confident and secure in who you are. By calling him and continuing the contact in a relationship that is completely over you are appearing to him desperate and needy. That is not attractive and the rejection hurts you worse.
At the end of the book it goes over how to find the right guy that will be good to you and you don't have to change, someone who will love you genuinely.

Well, the fact that he's your EX says a lot. If he cared about you like it seems you care about him, you guys would still be together. that should give you the incentive to give him space. im going through a similar thing with my guy and just the fact that we broke up makes me think, well, if he doesn't want to be with me, someone else will want to. good luck sweetie and try not to wait too long for him to decide what he wants. it should be up to u not him though.

EX means you are no longer together. You shouldn't even be in his space. and you should n't worry about if he cares for you, not unless you want to get back together with him.

when he asks you if you are doing good? and asks why or why not-- give him space by not calling him-- if you have to call him like once a week to once ever two week and gradually let him take the initiative

Well if he is your ex you should be giving him his space.....it shouldn't be a question of "how"....you just do.....you guys broke up which means just leave him alone...if he wants to get ahold of you he can....otherwise its over.
