I chose Halloween because it is such a fun Holiday! My bridesmaids wore black dresses & carried orange flowers. We had masquerade masks for the girls & the glasses with the noses & mustaches for the men in the wedding party. My husband had a tall dr suess hat in black & orange. I wore a traditional white gown but I had bright orange pantyhose underneath that everyone saw when the garter came off. The wedding party rode in a hearse from the chapel to the reception. Costumes welcome was on the invites. We even had small leaveless trees wrapped in orange lights & cobwebs. It was a wedding that is still talked about 8 years later!

Initially we wanted New Years... we are both Catholic and this year it is on a Sunday and the priest won't marry us on a Sunday... any other time in December doesn't work because our families live in separate provinces (Canada) and we would take away from their family Christmas traditions so... we are getting married in Newfoundland which is an island so winter is difficult because the ferries often get stuck in the ice, so we chose spring instead. We are getting married on May 19, 2007 (a long weekend in Canada - which makes it easier for our friends and family that have to travel from away)

We actually chose the weekend after thanksgiving. That way people wouldn't have to take enormous amounts of vacation to come from out of state since that is a holiday weekend and we both really like Thanksgiving. Every so often our anniversary will fall on Thanskgiving so it's great for us.

Make sure it does not fall close to any other important dates. That could get complicated. Choose a season to be married in that you prefer the flowers. Choose a season depending on what kind of dress you want to wear. Choose the season with the best weather for you, some prefer snow to heat.

We wanted it in July, and we were wanting it near the number day we first started dating (we became "official" on 12/24, so we wanted 7/24). The year we got married the 24th fell on a weekday, so we got married on the 21st instead.

We wanted a late fall/winter wedding and, since we love Christmas.. we decided on a Christmas theme. So went with the 12 days of Christmas... so, we got married Dec 14th.. 12 days before Christmas... We do a gift on the 14th... then a small gift of about $5 to $10 each morning/day up to Christmas day, then a 'larger' gift on Christmas Day... for the 12th day of Christmas. Regardless of our situation.. finances, we continue to do this and have done for 10 years.
Merry Christmas .....everybody!

we picked a venue we wanted then asked them what dates were available. 12th August is the beginning of Grouse shooting season in Scotland and everyone calls it "The Glorious 12th" which sounded good at the time. the second time I got married it was the only date the registry office had free for months so we went for that (25th August). I am no longer married to either man so I guess August is not a great month for me!!

Get married on the fourth of July. That way you won't forget the date.

By discussion. But you have to first know if you want the wedding to be insdie or outside. July 4 would be great if you have the wedding outside, or if the chapel is air conditioned
