Politics makes war go on and on. We should go in and get the job done but our government leader have to many agendas. The US is a world leader but not the only one. Our government is trying to make every one happy which makes the war continue. Contact your congressman and tell them to get the job done now. We don't need another Vietnam. That was a war that politic made us lose. Powerful money people that support the war with supplies are another reason for the war to continue. They lobby congress and congress fails to do the right thing. Let our men and women do the job they were trained for and then we can finish this conflict quickly.

You are correct this war is a 3 phased operation
Phase 1 "Going in"
Phase 1 began on order of the president and ends when all of Iraq has been occupied.
Phase 2 "Take care of Business"
Phase 2 begins when Iraq has been occupied and ends when a newly formed government (constitutional republic) Informs the US Government that our presence is no longer necessary.
Phase 3 "get the hell out"
Phase 3 Begins when the government of Iraq says we can leave and ends when combatant units have redeployed to home station.
We are currently in phase 2

Because bush and his cronies keep changing the reason.
First it was the non-existent Weapons of Mass Destruction. Then it was the evil Saddam, who by the way we backed when he was fighting Iran. And on and on.
The real reason is the oil.
Don't you think that the oil men like bush and his father and the house of Saad are going to let go of Iraqi's oil reserves? Was this not the first thing they went out to protect while the Iraqi museums got vandalized and looted?
Didn't Paul Wolfowitz claim that the profit from the Iraqi oil would pay for the reconstruction of Iraq and that the gas prices would be lower? None of this has come to pass.
It definitely is the oil and a strategic military base for more oil grabbing by the bush administration.

In case you haven't noticed, "business" is still being taken care of. We are finding major al-Qaeda leaders all the time, and the head of the snake is still out there...bin Laden. The Iraqi people are still being killed by these idiot "insurgent" guerillas, who have no qualms about strapping bombs to themselves, innocent children, or their friggin' GOAT just to kill us or whomever sides with freedom and democracy. The fighting men and women who are there will continue to do the job until it's done...war isn't waged on a set timetable, and only an idiot would leave now, as it would be a clear indication to the enemies of freedom that their cowardly deeds and tactics have worked.

We didn't just "pull out" after WWII either ... that would be irresponsible and probably require that we go back and do the job again at a later time. Getting rid of a dictator leaves a power vaccuum that will likely be filled by the most evil person out there. We have to stay to bring power to the people.

When do you know of that a war has been get in, get out? It takes time to take care of business. We can't just go over there, get things stirred up, and leave them worse than they were. We have to make sure their government is ready to hold it's own, or else we would just have to go right back after we left.

You are absolutely right. We need to take care of our business than get out. If we left now, Iraq would become a terrorist state.

That is the most ignornant way of looking at it. Yeah, war is that simple. Go fight and when we win just leave. We are darned if we do and if we don't. If we leave now then we will upset everyone; People will say, look we left that country in ruins.
