Do you think everyone here -that no one was poor at one time ,or our not now? That none us face hardship? That some here never faced where their next meal was coming from? That some towns have no schools? That some here can not find work? That some here do not qualify for programs? That some here see no future other than a poor life (Oprah did a story on the poor here right here in America--and hello some can not be helped easily)? Sorry to tell you but there are thousands and thousands and thousands of stories like that. And most do not break the laws.

They do the best they can without your bad behavior. We owe you nothing until their problems are solved first. Wait in line.
Why do you think that we don't know what poor is?

Mendi-A whole town in Illinois lives like that (check Oprah's web site in archives) and many others, No water, no nothing. And they can't get benefits--hello it doesn't work that way all the time. Check some of our mountain regions. Do you live in a glass bubble or what? Did Oprah and her staff make all this up? Not everyone can get help. You need a reality check!
others-yes TV does promote this.

My mother went to school by horse, and she was only allowed to go to sixth grade, because the school was so small that the grade level went no higher. They had no electric, or running water, and all of this was less than thirty five years ago, right here in America.
Do you want to know how they got electric, and running water. They moved closer to a city, and found housing, and work. The cities expanded, as did the practice of education, and developed into townships. These are the steps that make countries grow. People coming out of the thick to work with the rest of the nation. Because we did this, we were not only able to make our country wealthy, we were also able to make it Freer that any other nation.
There are poor people in Mexico, and their nation is the third wealthiest nation in the world, does that make the poor any less poor? No, it only makes the wealthy wealthier. You know we used to have laws that industry had to abide by. That is why we used to have medical benefits, and fair wages. But, through illegal voters we have lost all of that. But, Americans are coming together, because the numbers of poor, and severely in debt has risen too high. Now Americans are angry, and ready to change things, back into their favor.
America has always gone through it's good phases, and it's bad. During the bad American's learn what to do, and change what they can't fix, and fix what they can't change. Illegal aliens need to take this attitude across the border and fight for their own country, and their right to be free.

Because you have always had running water, if you cant afford to eat our government offers you food stamps, You've always had an indoor bathroom and electricity. You can afford to work only 40 hours and still pay for your family to live. You have credit which allows you to buy a house or car and pay slowly for 15 or 30 years. You have good paying jobs at your fingertips. While I am not saying that you (by Americas guidelines) cannot be considered poor, you have NO IDEA what it was like in Mexico just 20 years ago, and the way it still is in many places now! I think it would benefit you to take a trip to Mexico, somewhere central, and stay with a sponser family. You'd really learn alot

So you're saying that the american poor would choose to pick lettuce or walnuts, or any other crop for the same rate an "illegal" does. And what about cutting the grass?

America does have poor. And they stay at home being poor. The "illegals" leave their home, their family, and their country, to come here and be janitors, landscapers and crop pickers. America's poor could do the same thing, with the advantage that they speak english. But they _choose_ not to work. They _choose_ to allow others to come and do the manual labor that would support their family and perhaps break the cycle of poverty.

Either companies have to pay more to entice people out of the unemployment/welfare cycle by paying higher wages, or the american poor have to decide to work for low pay (which still beats no pay).

The problem is with the system, not with the "illegals".

Yes some who answered are living in La La Land. We have many very poor, look at the mountain areas, they have no schools, heat, water, food, clothes even for some. I send one organization books to help them learn.
I am sick of the excuses that those who come here are poor! Studies show this is not the case for most. And there is not a golden opportunity for all.
They are just playing the pity me song. News flash-why don't you open your eyes and see them?

The Illegals can go home.

There are many poor people in America. I know. I was one at one point.

Mendi8a, you say "we have always had running water and electricity...etc." You are speaking to a broad group of people and you are making a fool of yourself. How do you know what we have had and what we have not? At one time, we didn't have those things when I was growing up. We could hardly eat. You are running your mouth off again with no facts. There are many poor in America. You and the other criminal supporters are grasping at straws like you guys always do to think of any reason, no matter how stupid, to keep these trespassers here. They should all leave.

but at least in this country threes opportunities, threes the "one day my life will change" but in Mexico, Salvador, etc these people don't have opportunities. even the educated are struggling. you have to live it to know what they're talking about. is not the same to judge or hear stories than live it.
