The language, the people, the country?

The language is really stinking hard to learn. lol It's a tonal language which is something us English speakers have no concept of. For example, last time I was there I said the word "Khaao" to say rice. The waitress had no clue what I was saying until I said it correctly with the right tone. It can also mean stinky, news, white, and I think a few others. Same word. Different tone.

I think you need to be more specific in your question.. why don't you just google thailand and the specific area you are interested in.. -

and for the fellow above discussing language, what you might learn to do is to use the words in context.. just adding one word will help Kin Kao = eat rice, poo kao = mountain, kao soi = enter a soi, but of course, Khao Soi is also a famous soup dish from Chiang Mai - but context helps - - don't quit on it.. you can learn if you want to...
