Mexican/Roman Catholic myth states the virgin Mary appeared to some Indain peasant between Dec.9 and Dec.12, 1531 near current Mexico City. Mary supposedly manifested as an Indian maiden and told the peasant to tell the local presit to build a shrine to her on the very spot she appeared. The preist supposedly saw the apparation too. Do these people really believe this silly superstition?

I was born on December 12 and my middle name is Guadalupe, my family is catholic of course I am not a practicing one because at this point I pray only to God and do not need an interpreter. As for wondering if this is true. It might be. Just because we don't see it does not mean it doesn't exist. Otherwise we would not be breathing since air would not exist. Have faith and the doors of heaven will open for you.

I'm not Catholic. I don't believe in this. But it's not right to call people silly or to make fun of someone's religion as superstition. Additionally, for future questions on this topic, you might want to file it under Religion.

Take a trip to Medugorje (Yugoslavia). She appears there frequently. I have never been there, but I know people who have made pilgrimages there and have seen Our Lady (Mary the mother of Jesus).
