Girls' names don't normally end with 'ko' anymore ... it was a fashion for several decades, but now it's almost totally disappeared..! (Most of my daughter's female teachers have names ending in 'ko'!)

Girls;
Nanami = seven seas
Mirai = future
Misaki = flowering beautifully
Hitomi = beautiful person (usually - but if it's written in hiragana instead of kanji it doesn't really have a proper meaning.)
Aiko = love child (this is actually the name of the little princess, the emperor's grand-daughter!)

Boys;
Tsurugi = sword
Masato = true person
Tatsuya = expert(!)
Jun = pure

Obviously these names could all mean other things too - it depends entirely on what kanji are used. But these are real names, of real people here in Japan that we KNOW!

BTW, names like Honda, Miyazaki, Toyota, Yamaguchi, Yamada, Yamamoto & Suzuki are family names (some are place names too)! Katakana is NOT a name, and Dong is not a Japanese name - maybe 'Don', but anything that's romanized with 'ng' at the end is usually Chinese!

Many Japanese first names ending with 'ko' are for girls.
I like Miyamoto Musashi. He was a legendary samurai figure, and almost all Japanese would know this name.
