I think you are supposed to be bored to sleep. Relaxing helps you to fall asleep. Try breathing in to a count of five, and out to a count of 10. After five minutes, you'll either be bored enough or relaxed enough to go to sleep.

I just count-not sheep, just numbers. It's so boring that I get sleepy but it takes enough of my attention to keep me from thinking about other things. Sometimes I imagine counting and endless number of steps down a hill-this will help if you need to visualize something-again, it's boring but it keeps you focused.

I start at 1000 and count backwards it takes your mind off the day
also try telling your toes to relax 10 times then foot then ankle and see how far you get

insomnia is a created word for people who aren't active . i used to think i had insomnia then i got a job and worked every day , now i can't sit on the couch without falling asleep .
the moral of the story is to be more active to make yourself tired

Usually reading, listening to music or having my back rubbed will make me sleep.
I've never counted sheep...I suppose it'd be boring enough to work though. âº

I have a "white noise" machine that helps me as well as taking Melatonin when I'm having a hard time sleeping.

no not at all, tried it hundred of times, my best method is to get really tired, get out of bed and run around the house a few times that helps
