I noticed it happens when noone is in the house and she is completely alone, it happened once while I was home however. She is on a strict walking routine and that has not changed at all.Should I return her to the crate and recrate train her?

I disagree with the other poster about not necessarily getting another animal.. animals enjoy companionship, even dog-cat companionship..

that being said, I think your little pug sounds depressed, and getting a new pet might be premature. I think back to the crate might be the answer.. Consider also perhaps that the alpha 14 yo kept pug in check, and now, with no alpha the rules do not apply, depending on the nature of your relationship - perhaps the hierarchy needs to be reestablished.

You may have to start returning her to the crate for the protection of your house. She is suffering some degree of separation anxiety. She is either upset at being completely alone or is spite pooping because she is upset with you for leaving her alone.

Another option, if you are ready or willing at this point, is to get another dog. It appears your pug prefers the company of others, be it man or K-9.

Our Boston Terrier used to do the spite poop thing. He stopped doing it when we left the house as soon as we got another dog but we still have to keep an eye on him if we correct him. He will simply sneak off to another part of the house and leave us a present.

She's probably depressed and missing your other dog. Can you spend more time with her? If not, I've seen at Petsmart "doggie day camp"... It might be worth looking into that so she has company.

Try crating her up while you are gone, she will not go in a small space, this will retrain her not to go on the floor. She is lonely.
