a friend of mine is in a bind. please give any advice you my have. her mom, who is "old fashioned" has always depended on using cash and has never appllied for a credit card, or needed to apply for a loan, buy a home, or anything that required a credit check. that is until two months ago, when my friends mom and her went to the bank to try and have her mom co-sign for a small business loan. her mom should have been approved right? but the bank said that her credt was very bad. this is when they ordered a report from a credit agency..... they found out that someone in the human resources department of where her mom works that has a known gambling problem used her mom's information to apply for credit and list her name as "AKA". this means that my friends mom would have her credit and her reputaion damaged right?

please help me to help my friend. what can we do about this person who used my friend's mom's identity as her own??????

is this what you call identity theft???

also, how can we proove that this person did this to my friend's mom's credit?
i mean, she could easily say that she didnt do it and that it is probably a mistake right? or she could even say that her friends mom did this to get her in trouble since they never liked each other and she doesnt care about her credit anyway???

i know all of this sounds tooo crazy, but i also know this person in the human resources department and she is very evil and manipulative. there are some in this world who never seem to get what they deserve... how is this possible? how do some people seem to do bad things and possibly get away from it???

It's identity theft. File a police report and notify the three credit agencies. They will set it up so your friends mom has to actually talk to someone to obtain any sort of line of credit.
Keep all documentation because this will follow her around. Notify the head of HR if the person has done this to one person, chances are she's done it to many.

I agree with Erin7. Go to the police. The sooner you file something the better. Also notify the credit agencies. Document, document, document. Tell her to keep a book with the dates, times and names of each person she talks to. This will be a pain but it will become very valuable when she needs to look back and say that someone told her something 3 months ago about helping her restore her credit. Also let her job know that she "suspects" that this person did this. Don't say she knows because that's the police's job to put it all together. We all know that this person probably did it but to start something at work will just make things even more of a hassle for your mom's friend. Tell her things will be hard but the fact that she has never had any credit cards, loans, etc..is probably going to help her because why would she now open things up out of the blue? Good luck.

Call your local police department. Have them contact the HR department where your friends mother works and investigate this person that used your friends mom's information. Try to find out what credit card company issued the card and then contact that company.

Identity theft is bad, especially because an HR officer has everything they need SSN, DOB, etc to commit the crime. Also, put the HR department on alert to find out if any other information has been compromised.

Is this what you call identity theft?

YES!

And your friends mother can only try to fix it but once it is out there that will be very hard to do. There has been many shows about that subject but no real fix. Peoples attitude must change toward one another globally to fix such things. And since people are free willed not all are willing to make the changes needed so the Almighty will have to step in and stop those who only want to hurt others for their own selfish reasons. Please see my website, it is focused right at the heart of the problem golbally. Only if ALL clergy would preach that one rule and ALL people would take it to heart under ALL circumstances ALL day long! That day will come real soon!

Your friend mother needs to file reports with local law enforcement to report identity theft, with all three credit reporting companies, and to each company on her credit report that she has questions about. Insure she reports her suspicions and any proof she has and to do it as quickly as possible so that the person who is responsible can be caught and your friends mother can fix her credit rating!!! Hurry DO NOT WAIT... Good Luck!

i say the best thing for your mom to do is seek advice from an attorney and prosecute this person so maybe then they will be able to get the help that they so desperately need
