Yes I have it at the minute, I'm just over a year on with little improvement, my consultant has estimated up to 2 years for recovery.

I had Bells Palsy back in 1999. My face went back to normal in 3 weeks, but I was told that I was truly one of the lucky ones and my recovery was astonishingly quick. I was put on antibiotics and steroids. I guess it just varies from person to person. The docs at the ER said that mine was possibly brought on by stress and that Bells Palsy can closely resemble shingles in that once you have it once you can be prone to more easily be affected by it again. I certainly hope not.

I had it when i was 13 (about 16 years ago). had a pretty bad case, the whole left side of my face was affected, had to tape that eye shut at night and couldn't eat soup without it dribbling back out. it took the whole summer, a week long round of steroids but i got over it. sometimes now when i am really tired or don't feel good i get a little droopy. when i go to new doctors when i am sick they always look at my face funny and i just tell them i had belss palsy and they say, "oh okay i was about to check" or something like that.

I am an alternative medicinal therapist and an ex nurse. I have had this and it's terrible isn't it. It took about 6 weeks to cure. I used facial exercises and massage therapy. The GP gave me steroids, which i am against, I never took them. I healed myself. If your lucky you get 99.5 per cent of all feeling back but some people don't. It can take up to 6 months. I treat all my patients with the same treatment I used on myself. If you need anymore advice e mail me but give me your full e mail address for a reply.

I had it about 5 years ago and it lasted about 8 months. My brother had it a year later and his lasted almost 2 years. There is no way to know when or if it will recover.
Good Luck!

My sister had it when she was young and it was several weeks before she returned to normal. People treated her as if she was not there saying all sympathetic things which got on your nerves. Have you consulted your doctor as I think there is an injection they can give you which may reverse it to normal. I think it depends the reason you got it aswell. My sister had it in pregnance but it returned to normal later.

Yes my nan and a good friend had it, if you catch it quick enough and have the right medication then it will go as quick as it comes, but if you leave it, it takes longer to go..

no, but it depends how severe the attack was, the recovery time could also be prolonged by the severity of the attack. cant put a time limit because it varies from people to people.
