i used to be so depressed, i used to think of suicide, but im better now, i learned to think differently.......but what would make me depressed was tests and stress of school, and staying inside with nothing to do, especially in the winter, the winter is depressing cuz its so dark all the time......so i guess sunlight is a good thing.....also, drink alot of liquids, dont drink coffee, and dont smoke cigarettes....it makes you feel like ur worthless and you depend on them to make you feel good. also, be around the people you love and get along with........as for the mind, try to think differently, nothing is worth worrying about, trust me.....just live your life like you have little time to live, the truth is, you do have little time, but people dont realize that......also, if you do bad in school....you shouldnt stress it, its not worth it, tomorrow u could be dead, and all the grades, money, or belongings you worked for or love are worthless, ....., or if you dont get along with family or other people, whatever reason it is that youre depressed......think about it this way, "at least youre alive"...its up to you....if you want to live your life thinking about worthless things.....nobody was there for me when i was depressed, so i had to help myself, without any doctors or anti-depressants. and i learned things about life while i was trying to get over depression..........remember this........

I battle with depression alot. Sometimes nothing at all happens and I just get in what my husband and I refer to as a "rut"
I am on a wonderful antidepressant called Lexapro and it has truly changed my life and saved my marriage. I used to be such a negative and depressed person. I was angry at the entire world. Now I still struggle with the depression but I can actually talk myself out of it, kinda,sorta.........I get the usual depression that most people get about money, marriage, ex wife and ex husband issues, stepkid and kid issues, house cleaning and just the normal pressures of life. I think anyone who says they never get depressed are either lying or they don't recognize the depression or confuse it with anger or some other emotion. Depression is normal to some degree but when it escalates into an everyday occurance or happens on a regular/routine basis then it is time to seek professional help. There are doctors and medicine available to help anyone with chronic depression. There are meds on the market now that have little or no side effects. The one I am on is great because there are few side effects and actually I haven't experienced anything negative from the Lexapro, only positive. When I am feeling in a rut I go and have me time away from the kids and husband. I go shopping or just anything to give myself space. If I don't feel like leaving home to have me time I read or write my feelings down. It helps to write your feelings if you do not have anyone to talk to because you are still getting your feelings OUT, even if it is on paper.

Hmmmm anything can make u depressed it is how u deal with it really. I get depressed easily cause i have manic depression really bad and any little thing that upsets the cycle of my every day life can make it hard for me. But a lot of times it is when u feel a loss of something that really makes u depressed.

Being depressed, in a clinical sense, is different from just feeling sad. Everyone gets down sometimes, but if you are depressed, you may feel weak, sad, or apathetic for long periods of time for what seems like no reason.

If you think you might suffer from depression (a diagnosable, treatable disease), experts recommend the following:

See a doctor.
Be around positive people.
Keep a regular schedule of sleeping and waking.
Avoid alcohol or drugs.
Exercise regularly.
Be good to yourself.

Clinical depression is to do with an imbalance of chemicals in your brain (mainly serotonin)... ive had it for a few years but only got the courage to go to the doctors about 6 months ago...and now im on antidepressants :)

Apart from the whole serotonin thing... ive been bullied from when i was 4 til about 16 (im 18 now) and im really only starting to get over it now... you know, stupid boys tellin you you're ugly all the time, stuff like that. i also hate school and exams so they get me down. im thinking i should stop the rant now... lol.

If I'm around things or people that depress me, I find that removing myself from that situation is the best solution. Then doing something I love to do.

But at the same time, I am medicated.

well... where i work at , there is this entirely negative environment.. and of course it doesnt help me , specialy , because i live in a completely different country .. so most of the things i do here arent common for the people here , and sometimes my co-workers think they are stupid things.. but o course they are not for me. Antoher thing is , becuase of the cultural differences, i can not seem to be able to make any friends w people of my same sex. just to be friends... because we are so different. ... so only in the weekends i hang out w my co-workers and of course they come up w the same sh*t. i have a fiance , but sometimes he doesnt seem to understand whats going on.....
... that kinda stuff gets me depressed

I'm depressed a good amount of the time and find that going to the gym or going bike riding are really good at calming me down.

I used to but I have chosen never to get depressed again. Please read "Your best life now" by Joel Osteen.

Also, I'm a Christian and having a relationship with the Lord is a great way not to find yourself depressed.

Lots of times. Things in the past, people who have passed away that I miss, money, men, job, my home, my kids, lots of things do.

I don't think about it.
It is not easy to do, but if you practice enough and get something to keep your mind occupied, like Yahoo Answers, it gets easier everytime you do the not gonna think about it thing.
