I bought St. Johns wort yesterday, and it says it can cause complications with many precription drugs. Does it effect birth control at all?

And I've never taken it before, had anyone ever had any expericence with St. Johns Wort? Does it work?

I take St. Johns Wort and it does cause your birth control to be totally ineffective. I dont know why but thats what my doctor told me. St Johns Wort does work for me. Its just like when you take an antibiotic and it has something in it to make your birth control ineffective as well.

I have heard St. Johns Wort can affect birth control, specifically NuvaRing. I'm not sure why, but I did read that on the website for NuvaRing. I'm not sure if it affects other birth control.
