Jesus would never degrade or rob a person of their dignity, so no, he would not call an atheist an idiot. He would get himself invited over to his/her house for dinner and have a wonderful meal and conversation that would both challenge and enlighten the person, but leave them free to decide whether they had just been in the presence of the divine...

Well.... As I told that person.... according to the bible calling a person an idiot is the same as swearing.... here is the proof... from the Holy Bible itself.
It is not right for praising and cursing to come out of the same mouth (James 3:9-12).
We should only allow good and positive things to come out of our mouths - things that will encourage other people (Ephesians 4:29)
With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in God's likeness. Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers, this should not be. Can both fresh water and salt water flow from the same spring? My brothers, can a fig tree bear olives, or a grapevine bear figs? Neither can a salt spring produce fresh water. (James 3:9-12)
For, Whoever would love life and see good days must keep his tongue from evil and his lips from deceitful speech (1 Peter 3:10 )
Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen (Ephesians 4:29)

Jesus will never make fun of another. That is not His way. Unfortunately, due to Christians being angry, they act in ways that are not Christ-like. When they're faith is questioned, they get defensive. Wouldn't you?
Perhaps it would be good if the Atheist stopped insulting Christians.

I believe that would be proof. I don't think Jesus would call an atheist an idiot.He'd probably be very loving and caring towards them...and try to convert them.

I think that the question" What would Jesus do?" is the most absurd question in the world. How anyone could be so pompous to assume to know what someone who lived 2000 years ago would do. A far better question is "What would you do?".

I dont believe in "religion".....I believe in a relationship between man and Jesus Christ...and no. Jesus wouldnt call anyone an "idiot", just because they were not following Him, He loves them.

Jesus would usually use the term, simple minded. Worldly wisdom does not mean that much to Jesus. Our knowledge of His Word is what is wisdom. Proverbs chapter one verses one thru seven explains this very well.

No He would never call anyone an idiot. But I am sure they will all feel like one when they are standing before him some day and he asks if they still believe he does not exist.

Well, it is in the form of a question...Jesus liked to ask people questions, he did call the Canaanite woman a dog, which was a major insult...so...who knows?
