Why does society treat people with mental health issues with such contempt?

Because of the lack of understanding...most people cant understand these things unless they are directly affected. . Its an issue of ignorance if someone judges you because of such health problems. I take medication for depression and anxiety.....and I function every day and nobody would ever know by looking at me that I have these problems. I also know that if I dont take my medicine...then I can fall back into a depression very easily. People do what they are taught...If a person is judgemental of people because they are different...its because they were taught to be that way. Its very sad.

Some in society have been able to punish its members and create depression. Some in society because of the lack of understanding can't understand these things unless they are directly affected. They chose to follow the others. I urge all the outsiders dealing with this illness personally to find new friends who are outsiders too.

Because most of them have never had mental health issues. And don't know what its like. Look at some of your answers if you don't bleave me. Just for asking that question some people are putting people with mental illness down. See what i mean!!!

People are frightened of what they don't understand. There is no apparent cure for mental illness as people see it. It is also considered a weakness. All of those equal someone to be shunned and removed from the tribe in most people's eyes.
