a friend of mine is in a bind. please give any advice you my have. her mom, who is "old fashioned" has always depended on using cash and has never appllied for a credit card, or needed to apply for a loan, buy a home, or anything that required a credit check. that is until two months ago, when my friends mom and her went to the bank to try and have her mom co-sign for a small business loan. her mom should have been approved right? but the bank said that her credt was very bad. this is when they ordered a report from a credit agency..... they found out that someone in the human resources department of where her mom works that has a known gambling problem used her mom's information to apply for credit and list her name as "AKA". this means that my friends mom would have her credit and her reputaion damaged right?

please help me to help my friend. what can we do about this person who used my friend's mom's identity as her own??????

is this what you call identity theft???

also, how can we proove that this person did this to my friend's mom's credit?
i mean, she could easily say that she didnt do it and that it is probably a mistake right? or she could even say that her friends mom did this to get her in trouble since they never liked each other and she doesnt care about her credit anyway???

i know all of this sounds tooo crazy, but i also know this person in the human resources department and she is very evil and manipulative. there are some in this world who never seem to get what they deserve... how is this possible? how do some people seem to do bad things and possibly get away from it???

It is Identity Theft and the person can and should go to prison. She needs to call the police and turn the person in, get a police report, and than dispute the claims with the credit bureau.

yes it is identity theft , tell her to go to the police and her credit will be wiped clean with a matter of time , probably long time

regardless if she had no credit that is just as bad as bad credit , she would have been declined for the loan anyway

Of course that's identity theft, your friend should see a lawyer and try to press charges, as for your friend, she needs to find someone else to co-sign for the business loan. A brother, sister, aunt uncle, friend, etc.

first, don't call the police, what are they going to do? If you find out who to call, let me know. I'm always getting calls from bill collectors telling me my account is passed due, stuff I have never purchased. And they have all of my info, even my ssn! And I never fill stuff out on the internet either, where do they get it from?

FBI, should be notified. That is a serious crime. Please do so asap! really and also the Social Security Commisioner in Washington. Go online and write to her and FBI and the attorney general. nothing to play with. A VERY SERIOUS CRIME!
