I also have been to Iraq. The only good things I saw were us cleaning up things that we destroyed in the invasion. If you call the progress I have an invisible genie I can sell you.

Camp Liberty was the name of the place I was stationed. I patrolled RTE Irish around the time when the VBIED was introduced to Iraq. So I have seen the sights of Baghdad. I still think that we are just fixing things that we broke.

UNMOVIC was doing a good job in virtually disarming Iraq, and we stopped that, forever, that is good.

We stopped Iraq from posing an imminent threat to US security, Iraq was involved in 9-11.

It proves to all Americans that the Republican Party does a better job of protecting America than the Democrats. Compare 1999 to 2006, its obvious...

it successfully suppressed concerns over jobs, pensions, benefits, etc., in favor of security...

It allowed the Bush Administration to maintain political power, which is an extremely important matter if the narrow sectors of power represented by the Bush administration hope to carry out their reactionary domestic program over strong popular opposition, they can now try to institutionalize them, so it will be hard to reconstruct what is being dismantled if the Democrats take power.

It allowed the Government to get rid of legal overtime rights for the troops fighting in Iraq forever, that happened while they were away.

Lots of great stuff.

we have made a police force that will actually work, i was there in 2003 and the police were too afraid to enforce the law, now they will. we have built several new police stations. we have built schools and renovated other run down ones. we have created jobs for the iraqi people and given them the right to vote. we have created an army that can actually defend themselves. we have taken their cruel leader out of position so he can no longer torture the people. we have gotten rid of Sadaams sons that hurt and murdered so many people. we have cleaned up the nasty dirty streets that were once filled with trash and sewer water. we have given the people electricity that at one time they lived without or with very little. we have given them clean water to drink. we have provided medical aid to those who needed it and opened up many hospitals for the people. i could go on and on about all the positive things we have done in iraq. i only wish that people would stop complaining about us being over there and see that we are fighting for a good cause.

We are starting to learn that we can win wars but we cannot win occupations and the only way for Iraq to progress is for the insurgency to stop and the way you do that is just like Japan or Germany you cut and run. Its OK to cut and run from an occupation It is hard though when the white house is turning the word insurgent into al-Qaida.

Lets see:

How about the elections?
How about the fact that Iraq is a functioning democracy?

How about the hospitals, schools and roads? (Ever ride on MSR Tampa? About half of it was not even paved before we got there.)

How about the Iraqi economy?

We have done a lot of good over there.

We have removed a murderous dictator and his regime. A new government is forming. We are training their millitary and police force.

The people tore down the statue of Sadam, what does that tell you? They want freedom. And we are helping them achieve it. If Sadam were still in power, that statue would still be standing because anyone who made an attempt to tear it down would have been executed.

Rebuilding schools, establishing power supplies for reliable electricity, sewer treatment systems, training the Iraqi police and Army. Lots of good things for the people who live there.

We are TRYING to set up a safe environment for the citizens and the new government. They now have running water, electricity, schools (even for the girls), etc. We are also training their police and their military to take over.

Stealing oil of course!

And don't listen to anyone who says "hunting terrorists," there are no terrorists in Iraq, the people we are fighting there are Iraqi citizens who are trying to defend their country.
