How many people here have had the mumps? I had two lumps. One on either side of my jaw/neck area. My (male) cousins only had one lump. Is it more common for female to have two?

No it is not. And I can tell one thing about him only having one lump, he might not be immune to them now. Sometimes if it does not fully infect both sides you will not be immune to the disease.
And if a man gets the mumps when he is a mature adult man, he can become sterile from them if they drop on him.
By drop I mean the swelling goes on down into his chest area.
This happened to a uncle of mine and he was completely unable to have children. It was a real eye opener when they looked into his childhood and young adult life at the types of things he had , and this was the one that told the story of how it had happened.
The mumps are nothing to mess around with at any time in your life. I had both sides of my face to puff out like marshmallows and was sick for 2 weeks, when I was 9 years old. I still remember them and the chickenpox and measles. Miserable stuff glad we have vaccines now!

When I was a boy, I had them on both sides;so did my little sister.I really don't know;but I don't think it's more common for a female to have two.But I'm not a Doctor.
