Jewish belief is that Satan was an angel who was chosen to perform a certain function for God. The role God gave him was to present challenges to mankind, which God saw as a positive thing, because challenges can make you a smarter and better person.

In Judaism there is no such thing as a "devil", and Satan is an angel who does exactly he is supposed to do, to please God.

The idea of wars in heaven and arrogance and jealousy is pure Christian folklore.

if there was no sin in heaven how did Satan become jealous of gods power?

there was sin in Heaven, as you have pointed out through Satan. The Angels have free will and 1/3 followed Satan in rebellion.

Earth is a reflection of Heaven. There was a battle and the rebels lost. this is why Satan tricked man out of his God given Authority.

It sounds like you have been taught too basic theology. Unfortunately, this is prevalent throughout our culture. For example, we usually learn very early that water conducts electricity very easily. If you study some more you will learn that water does not conduct electricity, but instead the impurities (such as salt) are very conductive. Then if you study even more you will learn water does conduct electricity, just not very well. It is the same here. The heaven that most people are referring to when they say there is no sin in heaven will not exist until the return of Jesus Christ and after his 1000 year reign. Of course, it takes some research and thinking for them to even know what they mean by heaven and they rarely do this. So to them it's just a word without much meaning. Anyways, heaven (as many people use the term) did not exist when Satan sinned.

Well, he was not in hell when he became jealous, so there is sin in heaven. Hell is for the pure. Really, this is another reason to doubt the Christians. The men who created the religion made a mistake, they were no smarter than the Christians of today. They can't explain it, other than to say it was written by man, who is flawed. So then if it was written by man, it is not the word of god. So these people have been getting played the whole time. Guess the atheists are correct, which is why I am proud to be one.

Satan was only an angel first that got greedy and wanted the power, God immediately cast him out, We will go to heaven only with the forgiveness of our sins, that Jesus Christ died on the cross as a sacrifice in our place for. Then there will be no more sin, when Jesus Christ returns and takes on the kingdoms who follow the anti christ who will use many superficial tactics to make people believe.

lucifer is not the name of Satan when he was an agel in heaven. "lucifer" in all small letters means "morning star." Satan was like a morning star when he served God in heaven as an angel. Satan did not sin in heaven under his father's watchful eye. Satan sinned in the Garden of Eden located on Earth. God has a name, Jehovah. the jewish high priests directed people not to use the name because any use of the name was interpreted to be taking God's name in vain. this practice carried over to a lot of other religions. when you die, you don't go to heaven, and there is no hell. when you die, you are asleep in death, as Christ tells Martha regarding Lazarus. in death, we await judgement day, to be awakened and judged (forgiven?). we are conscious of nothing. ponder this: if you went to heaven when you died, why would you need to be resurrected? and why would you want to come back to earth? we are the human kind, not the spiritual kind. we are men and women, not angels. if adam and eve had not sinned, Satan would have been destroyed long ago and sin with him. Jehovah told adam and eve to be fruitful and multiple. they were the first married couple, and all they had to do was take care of the garden and populate it with mankind. when they sinned, they began the aging process that leads to death. Christ will reign for 1,000 years, and mankind, reborn through the love of God and His mercy, get a second chance. it will be possible to lose your life at the end of this reign if you fall to sin again. at the end of the reign, Satan, his angels, and the unforgiven will be tossed into the lake of fire for eternal destruction. a loving God does not cause eternal suffering. the bible is a collection of books inspired by God, written by the prophets (in the original language), and translated by fools, according to the purpose of the religion that they serve. the book of revelation warns us, religion is the great whore of babylon.

thank you for this opportunity to share some thoughts on this subject. they're scattered thoughts. with more time, i suppose i could show you the scriptures that support everything i have stated here. but maybe you need to get a good bible and read it yourself. any version will suffice. but, remember, it's TRANSLATED from the original scriptures by sinners, not prophets. when you feel conflicted about certain scriptures, pray for a resolution. if none comes immediately, set that conflict aside and continue your course. there's a reason you want to know about your Creator, your Father, which art in Heaven.

When God created the angels, he gave them free will just like he gave to Adam and eve. And in the case of Satan he wanted more. So all of them sinned against God. And eventually God cleansed the heavens by throwing out Satan and his followers down to earth. That's when it says in the bible woe to the earth because he tossed out Satan to the earth. The part about Satan is in Revelation

where does it state there was no sin in heaven?
in the beginning GOD created the heavens and the earth and all therein.that means he created the angels.satan was GODS favorite angel.so by creating the angels it means he also created satan and all of satans characteristics and personality.which means GOD created any sin that satan possess as satan does not have any power to create.GOD is the creator.jesus is his son,the prince.satan is also a prince, the prince of lies.so who is the king of lies?satan gets blamed for 'sin' when he didn't create it.he has no creative powers.
remember in the garden of eden?the tree of all knowledge of good and evil?who created the garden?go back to ,'in the beginning' for an idea.if god created the heavens and the earth and ALL therein....then who created sin?
answer simplified:GOD created in satan, since he created satan, the trait that caused satan to become jealous of GOD.remember,"for i am a jealous GOD"?since only GOD can create, then GOD created jealousy, and satans ability to be jealous.

I believe the answer here is that heaven was not the place the sin and jealousy were developed. I remember something about sons of god being figurative desctiptions of Angels and daughters of man, as human chickees. And the Nephillim were the sons and such born of such a union. (based on paraphrasing of the Bible, Genesis 2.

The story goes something like, angels were happy, humans were happy for the most part. god showed more blessing to the humans as they were childlike and impressionable. many angels, being not human but some otherworldly inception of god, became less and less satissfied of gods treatment. Much like the ignored child in a family. Angels rebelled and thusly Lucifers nafariousdelimma began.

If satan existed, by bible means, god created it. satan is the polar opposite of god. the next logical question is why would god ruin his paradise on earth with the inception of jealousy. I feel humans needed something to compare the good to in order to have a happy medium to conjecture laws, oherwise there would be no idea how to handle theives and murderers as no one would be able to understand why the theives and murderers interrupted the happy paradise. Perhaps this all good being and all bad being is not as black and white as is led to believe.

I don't know that there was no sin in heaven, or in our premortal existence. I'm not sure exactly what you would call Satan's disposition. This is an interesting question. Thanks for asking it.

We were all there and capable of our own feelings and thoughts. Satan wanted power and glory. Clearly he was capable of anger and jealousy, and very capable of wickedness. We all had agency unto ourselves, or the ability to make choices for ourselves. Some made better choices than others.

Essentially it was much like now, except for the fact that we did not have mortal bodies. Having bodies gives us additional opportunity for choice and accountability, and therefore we are tried and tested and prove our worthiness for blessings in the Lord's kingdom. But I digress.

I believe God gave us all the ability to choose for ourselves, and we had that in our premortal existence. Prior to that even, though, we had the ability to think and reason and formulate opinions. All of that combined allowed Satan the ability to choose to fight against God.

Satan had free will just like every other angel. They were to worship God but as he continued to look at how powerful and awesome God was he wanted some of it for himself. He began longing for something that didn't rightfully belong to him. He acted upon this desire for God's power, deceived Eve and sinned. He then persuaded other angels to join him-they too had free will that's why we have demons today. There is a lot more to this, but I hope I answered your question for the most part :)
