I'm not british, but bloody is a slur of by our lady, meaning mary, from when england was still catholic - it is treated as a curse word because it used to be blasphemous, and like most other swears, lost all meaning but that over time and use.

It is a mild expletive in Britain. So one might choose not use it in polite company.

American English is different to English. For example in England a f a g g o t is a large soft meat ball often served in gravey. It is not an offensive term.

Its not anymore , we use far better words now that are much more offensive
