Some people have sex before marriage. This is either their choice or they have had this choice taken from them by rapists. Why do other people continue to push their beliefs on the matter whenever someone asks a question, when that part has nothing to do with the question. And what if the person HAS been raped? Do they not realize that it's like they are just REMINDING them that the choice of waiting till marriage was TAKEN from them and they have to continue to live with that pain?

Too many people nowawdays are just too opinionated. Everyone wants to help but no one wants to LISTEN! You have to just take it [advice] with a grain of salt and try to not let what anyone says bother you. Freedom of speech. Listen to what you want to and ignore what bugs you or you do not care about. Selective hearing, er is it reading? lol
Do they realize it? Sometimes they do and they don't care. Other times they have no clue, they never looked at it that way! Part of the price we pay to ask others for advice and help.

Because some people are small minded and believe that their beliefs should be everyone else's. What they don't realize is we all have free will and can choose to lose or virginity before marriage. As far as if someone was raped and that person's right to choose was taken from them, then those people who make ignorant comments need to wake up and realize that no one chooses to be raped. Rape is not a crime about sex, it is a crime about power. When you are raped you did not have sex. Sex is between two consenting people. So ignore those who try to force their beliefs on you.

You've stumbled upon a very common issue - many people feel that their beliefs are superior and will berate those who feel differently. This happens concerning moral "dilemmas" such as same sex relations, pre marital sex, or even less "moral" issues such as having kids.

There was an online battle b/w advice guru Emily Yoffe - who, after advising a write-in on how to respond to the probing question "when are you going to have kids?" went on to mention that this person should reconsider her decision to remain childless. Happy non-parents declared that that wasn't the question and that the columnist shouldn't have imposed her beliefs in such a superfluous manner.

I concur - good for everyone and their life decisions, so please, for goodnessakes, leave me to mine!

Well in my experiences I find the people who are supposed to be the most non judgmental, are the most judgmental. These bible thumpers, and I'm sure I'll offend someone with that statement, should really do the christian thing and keep their comments and beliefs to themselves. Their way of life is their choice and not for everybody and next time someone comments to you, tell them "mind your own goddamn business" that'll freak em out!

Ok. First of all, it is VERY rare that a persons virginity is lost due to rape. Second of all, just because one has lost their virginity to rape is not a blank check to just continue having sex wantonly. Thirdly, sex is not just a matter of "belief" it is a matter of morals and societal stamina. Those societies that advocate random sex fall harder and faster than any other.

If people come at you like that.. come at them with what God says about it:

Judge NOT - lest YOU be judged..

Or

Remove the log in your own eye- before pointing out the speck in your neighbors..

Or

ALL have sinned and fallen short of the Glory of God..

Those people are NOT representing God correctly..

I agree with you. If my neighbor's behavior isn't harming my property or my person, if it isn't infringing on the Constitutional rights of others -- then it's none of my business.

People have gotten very pushy in general. I think it is because there is so much "me" mentality these days.
