Go buy some Loratadine 10mg (drug name for Claritin) for your boyfriend. Or have him see an allergist for the allergy treatment programs. Benadryl is great but may make the bf sleepy.
Keep the dog bathed and brushed weekly. You will need to vacuum your home (or apt) three times a week. (use one with an allergen filter - HEPA) This includes the furniture - anything that is cloth based. Leather items can be wiped down. Dust during this time as well. Wash the dog's bedding at least one a week - twice would be better.
Keep the dog out of the bedroom to give your bf a safe zone.
Toss out throw rugs from the floors - stick with hard flooring - carpet hold the hair and dander - that is the reason for the reactions.
Also get an air purifier / filter that specializes in removing pet allergens from the air.

Never pick a man over your dog!! I am serious.. I made that mistake when I met my (now ) husband and it broke my heart.
Keep the dog washed and brushed often, about once a week for a bath. Have your boyrfriend get some claritan (for allergies).
How did he not know he was allergic until now? Everyone has been around dogs at some point in their life, he would have reacted before.. Maybe he is just telling you that so you will get rid of the puppy!

Honestly, you guys should have considered this before you got a dog.
You can try a daily dose of claritin (for the BF not the dog) to see if it help. It may take several weeks to see results.
In the meantime, if you purchased from a breeder, contact them ASAP. Reputable breeders would rather take the dog back and find it a good home than risk it being given to the pound. You probably won't get your money back, but you'll know that the dog is going to a better place. If the breeder won't take the dog back, you have fallen victim to a disreputable or dishonorable breeder. Lose their number ASAP.
If it's not a breeder dog or you used a poor breeder that won't take her back, start looking for a local rescue group. They would probably be thrilled to have a 10 week old small dog to help with their funds. Start laying the groundwork now. You should be able to find a rescue group on petfinder.com or through one of the AKC pages.
If it was a rescue dog from a non-gov't group - the contract you signed probably says that you can give them the dog back.
Good luck to you and I hope it works out.

All allergies are is your body not recognizing that what you are inhaling isnt dangerous kind of like your nose is over reacting. I have severe allergies to almost everything airborne including cats and dogs. However I still have 2 dogs and 4 cats, How do I deal you ask?? Well when I first get a new pet I sneeze all the time but I just take allergy medicine like Claritin etc for about 2 weeks until my body finally accepts the new pets dander as not dangerous and then I am no longer allergic to that specific animal.....I am still allergic to other peoples pets that I am not around alot but now I can pet all mine and rub them on my face if I wanted to without sneezing or getting hives. So just give your man alot of allergy medicine until he gets used to it!!

Well who do you love more? The dog or your BF?
Dogs will love you forever. They would never break your heart. There is many dogs out there that are homeless and need owners who love them. They are loyal, nice, compassionate and will never leave your side when your sad.
If your boyfriend does not appreciate that puppy then get rid of your bf. If you really love your puppy and your bf doesn't, that will not make sense. A puppy is like a baby. It wouldn't make sense if your bf wouldn't like your baby. Does that make sense? You make a child, and the husband ends up not liking the child and tells you to abandon the child when he was the one who wanted one. Do you feel happy about that?
So ask yourself, Who do I love more?
My puppy or my BF?
Hopefully you can get a answer.
This is a problem that only you can solve. Your are the only one with the answer.
Your bf is allergic to dogs, I will agree that why didn't you talk about getting a dog with your bf? You should've known that you bf was allergic to dogs.

First try the over the counter meds..if that does not work call a doctor and see what they say...if none of those are an option you can try to get the place where you got the dog to take it back or get rid of the boy friend.

See a doctor so he can prescribe your boyfriend allergy medication. There are also products for the dog as shampoos or towelettes you can use to decrease the amount of dander, which is what causes the allergies. THere are over the counter allergy meds but he should make sure he is allergic to him and then seek help.

Give the dog a bath once a week w/ a gentle dog shampoo, and brush her outside daily. Give her some doggy omega supplements such as Lipiderm which should help her shed less. Your boyfriend might try some allergy medication.

I am allergic to dogs and cats and I have them both in my house. The cat is the worst and I just keep him away from my face area. I also take Loratadine which is a genaric form or Cleratin. Don't get the "D" form which has a decongestant in it and will knock you out. Works for me. Otherwise, speaking from experience dogs are more loyal and loving than men. My dog takes me over my husband when the husband is trying to feed him steak. That's loyalty and love!!!!!

Tell him to get some Zyrtec! When you decided to become a pet owner, you made a commitment to the dog. There is no guarantee that the boyfriend will be around forever. Keep the dog, let him deal with his allergies.
